Been gone! Help me build!

Thread Starter
Like the title says I have been out of the "game" for a bit guys. I need help, I want to build a kick ass machine but only have 1200 bucks at the moment. I do have a nice OCZ SSD so that will not be needed, I also have 2 1TB drives for storage. What I need is everthing else listed below:

CPU: ?
GPU: ?
MOBO: ?
PSU: ?
RAM: ?
CASE: ?
CD/BR: ?

And last but not least I want to go Intel for CPU and leaning nVidia for GPU unless you can make a good AMD case for GPU.

Thanks Ladies and Gents!

Here's something I threw together:
2500k + Asus P67 PRO motherboard
MSI GTX 560 448
Corsair 650D + AX750 PSU
8GB DDR3
NZXT Havik Cooler
DVD Drive

Total: $1140 before rebates, there's $55 in rebates. If you want to cut the cost, geeks has the same motherboard, but refurbished for a lot less. Here's the link:

Also, the case is more a personal choice, so you can swap that out for one the you like, but with the 650D, you get a nice discount on the PSU.

I would suggest an alternative approach to your situation:- keep as many current components as you can and only upgrade those that will last even into your next complete overhaul.

Current components to keep

CPU: C2Q 6600 @ 3GHz (if possible, use an aftermarket cooler to overclock it even more. 3GHz is nice but higher is even better, say, at around 3.4-3.6 range)

Mobo: EVGA 680i SLI

RAM: 4x1GB DDR2

Storage: 2xRaptors 140GB Raid 0 + WD 1TB + OCZ SSD

DVD: Pioneer 18x DVD±RW DL

PSU: OCZ 700W SLI (this has enough juice but it does not have four PCIE connectors for the 2 cards below. You might use molex adapters but ensure good distribution among the four rails. If not, sell this and change to Corsair AX650 for $130)

New

Graphics cards: 2x GTX560 Ti 1GB  US$370

OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 $?? (check to see if you can get the cheapest single user OEM version. This is preferred as 64-bit OS will allow full usage of your 4GB system memory)

Monitor: 27'' Samsung S27A950 for $610 (27'' is a very noticeable upgrade from 22''. Keep the current 22'' as second monitor if you wish. Or, sell it to recover some money)

You should still have some money left to do the PSU and/or CPU cooler mentioned above.
