Counter Strike Source Freezing Computer

Thread Starter
Hey, I just recently bought a 6950 and ever since I installed it I have been having problems with counter strike source freezing my entire computer. At first it would say lost connection in the top right corner while I was playing a server then it would freeze my entire computer, I deleted steams .blob files and I don't get the lost connection message anymore but the game still freezes my entire computer. I have to hit the reset button on my tower to restart the computer. I verified the CSS files and I defragmented them, the only thing I haven't done is reinstall CSS which I will do tonight.

I haven't had any problems with SC2 or BF3, just CSS.

The game veries when it freezes, it sometimes let me play for half an hour, sometimes only 5 minutes

The general rule of thumb is when installing a new GPU, ESPECIALLY if going from Nvidia to AMD is to reformat. However, if you went from AMD to AMD and only upgraded, then hopefully your issue will be solved by a simple un-installation and re-installation of your GPU drivers, which I recommend you take care of.
