remove an unremovable fan?

My case fan broke and I discovered that the case manufacturers did not anticipate that this could happen... its not attached with a screw, but a black plastic piece
is there any way to replace this fan?

If you squeeze in on those tabs with some needle nose pliers and push out it should pop out no problem.
The thing is, it is probably going to destroy that thing but you would be better off replacing them with regular fan screws anyways.

They actually used what's called a "push rivet" as that has a nice smooth rounded head rather than Phillips screw head. How they work is that there is an outer collar (with legs) that just fits inside the hole and then there's a central pin that gets pushed into the collar spreading the legs apart to hold it in place.

If you look at your picture, you can see the central pin at the center of the rivet, just push that back up then you can pull out the rivet and reuse it to secure a replacement fan.

push the little center pin out, this will allow the little wings to compress and slide out.

Yeah like radodrill said just push the middle pin down and it should pop right out to release the fan. It's a pretty simple setup once you see how it works and it should be able to be put back into place if you need it to.
