side fan in or out?

Thread Starter
do you fellas recommend side fan bringing air in or pushing air out?

i have
CPU fan pushing out back
front 200mm pulling in
PSU bottom mount pulling in from bottom...out thru back
Back 120mm pushing out
Top 200mm pushing out

right now i have the 200mm side fan pushing out...but just wondering if i should have it pulling in

You want to create positive air pressure in your case which will create a natural wind tunnel effect. So the side fan should be intake. If you are worried about dust you can always get a small filter.

Out. The hottest air in the case is the air around the graphics cards. A side panel fan should suck that hot air out instead of letting it linger around the GPU.

Usually front and side fans are intake, top and rear fans are exhaust so you keep the air flowing through the case. Heat also rises so drawing air out via the top and back is the best way to do it.

Yep, totally agree. The wind tunnel will rise the heat out of the case. Having the side fans blowing out will not vent the video cards since the heat is not going to be expelled from the side of the case unless there is no real airflow. Also cards fan and blow the heat out the back of the PC.

Front intake+side intake=positive air pressure and great airflow.

That is a nice idea.

I'd keep it as exhaust - your card exhausts warm air into the case itself - if it were a blower-style cooler then I'd use the fan as intake.

due to your graphic cards version, test the sidefan as intake. it should improve your gpu temps.
