TX650W Equivalent

Hi!

I've been out of the gaming scene for a while now, looking to jump back in. A few years ago when I built my first ever "proper" gaming PC, I used a TX650 becuase it was on sale for £58 including tax & delivery which made it the bang for your buck PSU back then. Strangly enough, that figure is still the same today, hehe. Should I buy another TX650 or is there a better bang for your buck PSU out there for under £60?

The system I'm looking to upgrade to is:

CPU: i5 2500k overclocked to 4.2ghz on air.
GPU: GTX560 448 Tri-SLI.

Will the TX650 be able to cope? If not, what would you suggest under £60? I'm in the U.K, so U.K prices/products only please thumb.gif

Tri SLI? I'd rather have the peace of mind and get a good 1000w. If it was just SLI I'd say 800 at least. I guess I just like a bit of headroom.

HI , i dont think a 650w PSU would handle this and i wouldn't try (may screw up everything) IMO a 1000w+ PSU should do the trick
check this test out http://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/index.html

good 1000w PSU :
-Seasonic 1000w platinum
-Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W
-Corsair HX1050
-Antec CP-1000

1000w... seems a little over kill.

Lets look at it this way, a 580 ( or 90 ) tri sli needs 1000w+

So i would guess yours needs 800w + ,

don't bother going below 800w. rolleyes.gif

what about a Corsair Memory 800W Gaming Series GS800 High Performance 80 PLUS® Certified PSU?

A little over budget but currently @ £78.

What I don't understand is, I ran an overclocked Q6600 with 3 way SLI GTS250 rig for a year on a TX650. I would have thought the older tech was a lot more power hungry then the new-gen cards/cpu's... Obviously not tongue.gif

You're getting SLI 580s and you have a PSU budget?

I'm just saying, GTX580s are like £350-£450 each, so SLI would be £700-£900... and you're saying £78 is over budget for your power supply? There's a problem with that reasoning is all I'm saying.

Try this:

Hes gettings 3x 448 core 560 Ti, still around the same though so point is still valid.
Youre spending close to a grand on graphics cards and you dont want to spend even 100 on the PSU?
