RAID Enclosure Question: Which is faster USB3.0 or eSata

Thread Starter
Im trying to determine if its necessary to buy a RAID enclosure with usb 3.0 or eSata. I know most of them come with both, but I would rather get a cheaper RAID enclosure that has eSata and usb 2.0. Thanks.

USB 3.0 offers 5 Gbps whereas eSATA offers only 3 Gbps, so USB 3.0 is faster.

However, the idea is that eSATA runs on a single protocol between the hard drive and the motherboard whereas data over USB, even 3.), must add an extra processing step to convert protocols from SATA to USB.

I would say, though, it is a safe bet to go with a USB 3.0 enclosure over an eSATA one.
