comp doesn't boot with x1900gt

Thread Starter
I got a computer, that for some odd reason, doesn't boot up when I put in an x1900gt. The comp turns on, but nothing happens and there's no display. for reference the mb is a pc chips A31G. Is there any way I can get it working, or does this card just not work with this mb?

Do you have enough power in your compy? I would venture a guess that your PSU is not powerful enough.

Need a quality POWER SUPPLY UNIT.
ATI isn't shy about voltage requirements.

Got a Thermaltake 450W. It's quality, and the x1900GT only needs a 400W, so I doubt it's power here.

Thermaltake 450W... Not really the best choice. Which model? Some of those have really weak 12V rails.

However, I don't think it's power.

Can you test the card in another PC?

Are all cables properly connected?

Gonna test it on another computer. I'm starting to think it's the mobo. It has an SiS chipset, which from my experience always have the oddest problems (as well as being a little old). This may sound odd, but maybe the card is just too new for it? Whatever... I might end up selling the card and getting another card.

I just called the store that I bought everything from. They told me that I should get a better motherboard somewhere and they'd refund the one I bought from them. That's fortunate. I'm probably gonna run out right away and buy a new mobo.
