This does not apply to tablets because you hold them much closer to your face. With a TV this is true because you often sit 6+ feet away, however if you sat around 1 foot away, or less, than you would notice a major difference between the two, especially with text.

Does anyone else feel like the mobile market is moving too fast? I know it is blasphemous to say as tech people, but seriously..

I feel like not too long ago, I was thinking I really want the Transformer. Then even more recently it was Transformer Prime. Now, barely after the release of Prime, I want the Prime 700t.

Don't get me wrong, I love progress. But I would like the mobile market to slow the h-e-double hockey sticks down. Give us some time to enjoy one piece of equipment and just make the next release insanely awesome after a year or so. Maybe I'm alone in feeling this way redface.gif

i feel the same way but, i have realized that i dont have to buy the latest and greatest-what i have does me fine. (Transformer Prime)
i used to buy the top of the line for benchmarking, now i will skip a generation or 2-see sig rig.

the prime was my first mobile device, so it should do me for a while.
i dont think the 700t is coming out until summer?

I think I'm going to have to change me way of thinking and follow your lead on this one. Trying to keep up with the latest and greatest will just give me a migraine.

Do you like the Transformer Prime?

I agree with above it would be nice for them to slow down and actually make a huge upgrade rather then oh we are going to make a update update update just wait and release a nice chunky update. I DO also agree with you don't need the latest greatest but it just feels better when you do.

it took me a while to NOT get the latest, but when i do upgrade, there is a big noticable improvement.
LOVE the prime and i would buy it again even hearing about all the problems.
as of now, mine is working flawlessly, it even took a 4.5 foot fall, onto carpet, but all is well.

ya, i love the new stuff, but i would be spending $1000s every 6 months.
i spent about $6000 in 2 years on building systems-had 4 top of the line systems, sold all but 1.
so what i found to be a good " i need to buy something new better fix", is case modding.
you can buy a cheap case, dremel tool, spray paint and have a field day-lol
water cooling is also fun.
i am a woodworker, so i have a custom shop, but i have build many systems, and mods, on my kitchen table.

i heard a wise quote:

i work more, to make more money, to buy things i dont need, to impress people i dont like.

I have the tf201 right now and it's a beast. I think the Prime has the edge just because of the optional dock so you can make it into a netbook which is great even for general web browsing. I bet the ipad 3 and the 700t will have similar battery life since apple can only do so much to boost it and while the 700t will have to work harder to power the screen, it wont be fighting to make the radios work correctly. All in all it's going to be an interesting summer but I'm a TF guy, will probably sell and trade up when the 700t comes out.

Another vote for the Prime here. I love mine. And it's a pretty big upgrade over the original Transformer IMO. The 700t's improvements aren't all that large compared to the tf101 to tf201. If you get a Prime now, I think you'll be happy with it for a while. The main advantage of the 700t is the screen with a 1920x1200 res vs 1280x800. But I would assume that those extra pixels will affect performance.

another vote for the prime here.
i really wanna buy the TF700t but speculations on release dates range everywhere from april - june and i am hoping that it comes out before then as i'd like to use it during this school semester...

Sure to the restrictions imposed by simply owning an apple product and the lack of control over your own hardware I would choose the prime 700t and not think twice about it.
