SSD for static sound libraries, how much free space should I leave?

Thread Starter
I currently store ~205GB of audio sample files on a 5400rpm 1.5TB drive alongside an M4 128GB ssd for my boot drive. The audio samples come with various virtual instrument software from native instruments and others. I am considering getting a 240GB or 256GB ssd to store these audio files on for quicker retrieval and to get rid of all hdd noise in my computer. Once the data is written to the drive initially there will be very little writes to the drive and a lot of reads. I've read about ssd performance sometimes suffering when the drive gets close to capacity. Once formatted as NTFS I would have ~223GB free from a 240GB drive and 238.08GB free from a 256GB drive. If I have 205GB and want to potentially add a few GBs over time, should I be worried about performance of the drive? I am not willing to jump up to a 512GB drive so I just need to figure out if I'll be OK with a 240 or 256GB drive. There is a OCZ Vertex + 240GB drive going on a shellshocker deal later today for $200 after MIR that I am considering since I don't need the latest and greatest SSD for this application. Are there drives I should stay away from? General comments on my situation? Thanks thumb.gif

If you really aren't going to fill the space up that quick then get it.
