LTE is nice but I'm not really that bothered by the lack of it. To me faster bandwidth seems pointless when it'll just cause you to hit your data cap sooner.

I just checked, and there is no 4g at my house or at my office. That bites...

D: Ouch. Well at any rate Verizon says on their site that their entire 3G network will be overlaid with 4G by the end of next year, so....tongue.gif I'm sure by then all phones will support 4G and be better at it too.

Wait for the Galaxy Note, or the Galaxy S3 at MWC this year.

haha, it'd be nice if Verizon would get nationwide 3G coverage first, then worry about 4G. I can't tell you how many times on a road trip I've run into "extended network" along some major interstates, and where my parents live (two different cities) there is zero 3G coverage for Verizon... frown.gif

the Galaxy Note? confused.gif that is an odd recommendation, that thing is much too big to be a good phone, but also is too small to be a good tablet. Unless I'm thinking of another product, I'm pretty sure the Galaxy Note is kind of a flop...

yeah, the Galaxy note is 5.3" pass.... Not even remotely interested in something that large. I need it to be a phone more than designed for video playback.

I am not one to wait for tech. I would wait for the droid Razr Maxx since its only a couple of weeks away, tops. might even be next week. Or maybe the droid 4 if it is also right around the corner. But waiting for technology doesn't make sense to me, because there is always something new coming out... I get another upgrade is less than 2 years, and by then tech will be a few generations ahead. This time im buying top of the line instead of the $100 Special when I got the droid. This is in hopes of the phone lasting me more than 2 years so I don't need to upgrade right away. At least I hope to be able to. I also will not wait until the end of my contract to load a custom rom on whichever phone I end up with.

I actually rooted my droid last night and loaded it with Cyanogenmod 7.1, set the cpu speed to run from 250mhz to 800mhz. Seems pretty good, still get delays though. I might try the liquidsmooth rom you mentioned.

Thanks everyone.

Just an fyi, if you want to see how well the Note has done worldwide, check out the number of units sold over the past few months... I think it hit over 1 million? Its a fantastic device from what I read and what I would use it for, and I would love to have it in my hands to see for sure.

@OP Looks like you have the right idea with not waiting for new tech. I bought the AT&T GSII a month or two after it was released when it was on sale for $50, which is pretty much the only reason I would wait.

Good luck!

I'm sure its a great phone. it looks pretty awesome. I googled it, but it wouldn't work for me. It's too big, and I need it to be a phone more than a personal media device. 5.3" is a small tablet, not a large phone IMO. The Galaxy Nexus at 4.3 is just about as big as I would go in a phone.

Oh and Wirefox, great recommendation in liquid smooth. It is WAY More responsive than Cyanogen, and I can OC my CPU to 1000mhz, I initially had a memory card issue, but unmount/remount fixed it... +Rep

Thank for the posts so far everyone.

I have iTether but you can't buy it now. it was only around for a day or so. and Its cable only. On the other hand you don't need to be jailbroken. iPhone is not so good for free tethering.
