How do people aim so well in console fps? - Page 6

Until recently, I played competitively on xbox. Just like anything, it takes alot of practice to be decent, and dedication to be amazing.

My competitive console gaming is done, as work and age are catchin up with me, and i decided to build my first pc. not goin back, but I do find it harder to keep up with the pc crowd for sure, M/KB is just now starting to feel comfortable after a couple o months

Answer your question?

My $180 Spent on the XIM3 was very worth it. I didnt like the comfort of using a damn controller so I bought the Keyboard/Mouse to Controller adapter(XIM3).

This could also be a factor why some can aim really well.

My KDR in BF3 went sky rocketing once I got this. I approve of this product.

$180 for an adapter eek.gif I'm guessing this thing has to do some serious emulation work. Ether that or its way over priced.

All console shooters have different levels of “aim-assist” that makes them playable using a controller. If done incorrectly, adapting a mouse to these games will result in aiming that feels jerky, unresponsive, and detached.
This made me kind of smile as that's exactly what some console ports/multi platform games feel like on PC rolleyes.gif

Edit: I'm also wondering if the XIM3 should be considered (hardware) hacking as it gives the user an unfair advantage compared to other players and was not originally intended to be available for the game thinking.gif

I haven't actually got to try that XIM3 thing...I did get to try the equivalent on the PS3 though. it was horrible. The mouse worked like an analog stick. Quick movement was looked at no different than slow movement since an analog stick doesn't care how fast you move it...only how far you you move it.

it was not my system though. So maybe it wasn't set correctly? Does this XIM3 work any different than if I was sitting at my PC? $180 for an adapter might seem like a lot, but I could buy that and a whole Xbox for less than a large hardware upgrade and then not need(or want...because I can't) to upgrade hardware again for many, many years. (providing the XIM3 will work with the next Xbox. I think it is too late in the game to get a 360...though I might if it was cheap)

why do you think cross platform never took off.. even newb pc players with track ball could stomp the life out of a pro xbox player.

This is untrue as after several COD and Battlefield games I've found that I do just as good if not better than most pc players with my controller, I play both Xbox and PC versions of COD and Battlefield with a 360 controller and I do just fine with it. The key lies in the fine tuned movements of the analog sticks just as much can be said with a mouse for aiming.

No problems at all. The only thing that you'll run into is compatibility. If you look in the forums you'll see all the compatible and non compatible mouses.(Compatible hardware list).

Gameplay wise, I was able to be top 1-3 every match(KDR wise). The experience was like playing on PC.

The XIM3 isnt because it was mentioned on an Microsoft XBOX forum:
Code:
As I understand, you're checking if using a 3rd party keyboard and mouse adapter on the console's going to be a violation to the terms of use.

The answer to the said inquiry would be, "no". You can feel free using the mentioned external accessories. However, we are unable to guarantee its efficiency with the console. We would highly recommend you to continue using the certified Xbox 360 accessory to optimize your gaming experience.

I hope I was able to help you on your concern today.

XIM3 beats all those generic Keyboard/Mouse adapters. XIM3 is the real deal with different configurations you can set you hardware into(Works with 360/PS3). All information will be at the website.
Because I live in Hawaii, shipping+product costs me $180. Although, you do have a good point. $180 could of been used for parts/etc. Buying the XIM3 for me is more of a "want" than need kinda thing. I spend most of my time on my PC and my friends were mainly consoles. Thus, the reason why I bought the XIM3.

**You guys don't have to buy it(No advertisements), I'm just saying what Ive encountered about it so far and how it relates to this topic about FSP percision**

Not true.

Just because someone uses a keyboard and mouse that doesn't make them a better player, they just have an advantage over the other.

Just because you can turn and aim faster that doesn't mean you have the skill to pull it off.

my opinion of this subject is that it takes practice for most games such as BF3. In BF you actually have to use the sights of your weapon instead of a "aimbot spray and pray". Also if you like to use a Sniper Rifle such as the M40A4 or the Barrett M98B and the L96 then you have to use physics to calculate the bullet drop and the distance you are shooting from and the person you are "taking out'. There are many X factors in just using these firearms along with many others. For example the use of Assualt Rifles and Sub-Machine Weapons, you cannot use the spray and pray method due to the realism and they made it to where you cannot really use the method. For Halo and many Sci-Fi genre games they are not as realistic as there realistic warfare counterparts. The weapon systems they use are somewhat realistc but not close to actuallity. For example one of the Marines in the games would not be able to use a 12.7x99 caliber rifle and just the weight of this very gun would weigh him down exponentially more than a 10-12 pound Rifle that can do the same damage as this one . Also the Assualt and Sub- machine Firearms are blocky and non realistic as i have seen but use Present Day calibers such as 7.62X 54 NATO or 308. But this is just my personal stance on the subject matter.

I grew up playing consoles and played some of the first fps games on the console. I've also played quite a few fps games on consoles. I never got good at those games. I always found it awkward.
