I think you misunderstood what I meant. I understand on what they're trying to do, which I think most of us can agree is somewhat strange, considering their idea of streamlining everything it makes little sense to clutter the game screen. However, the white items (currently) are essential to crafting, which is essential to getting quality items. I assume there will be some form of change in the crafting system, because right now white -> scrap, and blue -> scrap+essence when breaking them down. If all whites are no longer salvageable that means you will always be lacking scrap for crafting since that's the majority of crafting requirements.
I guess the other option would allow to break down crafting material, ie: 1 essence -> 3 scrap, but if they're getting rid of the cube too this will only become more cumbersome.
