I always thought "generation" was defined by the die size???

AMD produced the first 64-bit processor, now they're behind in CPU market

They made the first 28nm GPU, now they're behind Nvidia

Understand now?

I went 7970 xfire because I needed the performance now. If kepler is leagues above I will sell these and buy cooler quieter after market 680/780's when they come out. Brand loyalty is for the birds.

All of these kepler rumors are entirely suspect, and a lot of them contradict each other. I really think nvidia marketing is behind it.

That said, I did the same - Bought 7970 crossfire to complement another PC with sli 580s. I am extremely happy with the 7970s, a lot faster especially when overclocked. I completely agree with you that blind brand loyalty is pretty dumb smile.gif Go with whats best at the moment. Kepler will be a guaranteed purchase for me if it is good.

nope, if i'm deciphering what you wrote correctly-- they're not behind because Kepler isn't released yet. When its released and if it is good, then they will be behind wink.gif Which is cool because there's another toy I can buy. But I can't buy a rumor, and kepler is nothing but rumors right now.
