My 2.85ghz OC is stable under prime 95. My mobo doesnt seem to like FSB's over 280 tho very much and windows freezes up occacsionally. Taken it down to 2.63 ghz (263x10, ram 4,4,4,12 2T@1051Mhz). Its 100% stable here and only need .125 vcore more over stock. Gonna mess around some more tonite and see if i can get that 2.85ghz stable in windows.

Edit : Well it seems my system is stable at 2.85. My mobo needs some warming up time evidently as windows doesnt lock up at 285+ once its been on for a little while. If I try booting at 285+ fsb after the pc has been off all night I lock up in windows within the first minute. Testin at 292 x 9, ram at 4,4,4,12@1025Mhz as I'm typing this, and stable so far.

Thanks for the input guys. This gives a clear pic on what to expect when Overclocking an X2 cpu. I was thinking of picking one up maybe, the 3800+, 4200+ or even the 4400+ if the extra cache is actually noticable. My mobo supports X2 cpu's but I think I remember reading somewhere that it wont let you go over 1.45v on the VCore (Dunno if its true, or if there is some way around it).

So I need to take that into account when buying and oc'ing my X2. Most people seem to get upto 2.6GHz before needing to increase the voltage beyond 1.45v. Also whats better for OCing: Manchester or Toledo?

I've only just got mine, so I'm still playing with everything

CPU: 4200+ Manchester LDBFE 0621
CPU Speed Overclocked: 2.7GHz
CPU voltage: 1.45
CPU temp (100% load): 40/41C
RAM: 2x1GB G.Skill HZ DDR500
RAM Speed: 270
RAM Stock Timings: 3-4-4-8
RAM Overclocked Timings: 3-4-4-7
CPU Cooling: Thermalright SI-120 with TT Thunderblade

Completed dual 32m SuperPi and run SP2004 for 1.5 hours without a problem. Still raising the OC

EDIT: I got 2.6GHz at stock voltage (1.35) but had to raise to 1.45V to get 2.7GHz.

If ur gonna OC hard get the 3800 or the one I have the 4000. The 4000 has the 1MB L2 cache and can be had for 189$ US now. All those u listed, the 3800, 4200, 4400, should all be able to OC to at least 2.6Ghz with a good mobo. Have my 4000 stable at 2.86 atm with 1.44 vcore, testing some more now at 2.91Ghz. I think I could prolly hit 3ghz with 1.5+vcore but windows isnt stable for me after 290+ fsb and max multiplier on this chip is x10.
