the mesh looks alot better than the towels. The towels reminded me of tampons lol. I suggest you put the updated pics in the first post for the motm contest. Good luck man!

Love this build, would it be too much to suggest adding fishtank pebbles to the bottom of the res with some fake plants or something?? Make it seem more like a natural waterfall??
Its an idea...

I could see that being cool in future builds, an actual landscape, but I don't think that's what he's going for here... he was going for sleek and monochrome to start with ...

I might do something like that someday, but It wasn't really the plan for this build nor Arctic Rain. I wasn't really going for monochrome on Rainfall though.

Oops. I was thinking monochrome for Arctic Rain doh.gif

just looked through your mods. Very cool stuff.

I dunno if i would be able to listen to dripping water all day, but that's me.

Perhaps instead of large nozzles on the "rain fall" part perhaps use water misters. With enough of them would still be able to flow the volume of water you need, yet small water droplets= higher surface area= better cooling via evaporation

I've been tossing ideas around in my head for years, but never actually buckled down to build anything.

Thanks!

Keep in mind that water misting requires pressure. The drain plate I used for the bottom cooler allowed water to flow through with just gravity. On my current build, I used smaller holes, and more of them, which should provide better cooling efficiency. Also, if the water gets misted, it's also extremely likely the fans will blow the misted water out of the cooler completely.

well there is always pressure in a water cooled system, if there wasn't the liquid simply wouldn't move. I don't know if you would actually expel the misted water out of the system, via fans, but in any case there would be more evaporation taking place. In most water bong setups the users are not exhausting air, but drawing air in via intake.

for example.

I've already told myself, the next house i build will have 100 feet of copper tube shoved into the ground in a loop where ever my computer room is located, and will use that for cooling.

Thing is, that diagram fails to show how the air is exhausted around the shower head. If you have a sealed container with a fan blowing in, it won't do anything except maybe move the air around inside. While I agree that yes, there is water pressure, the pressure is a result of gravity opposing the flow of water in an upward direction. IE you would need a pump whose output was directly hooked up to the misters, and those misters require much more pressure than our pumps can handle. Water cooling pumps simply move water, they don't pressurize it.
