is it not sealed at the top so that no water can escape??? i see that as a potential problem... :/

Nice work thumb.gif +Rep

It´s like a bong inside your case.

What temperatures are you getting?

Read my posts on how it works. It's intentionally open at the top, so that way it can evaporate the water. If it were sealed then the entire thing would have been a fancy reservoir

Yup bong in mah computer lol. I'm getting about 60c max on a 4.6Ghz overclock, about 4 - 5c lower than without it. At idle I get ambient temps.

I've been testing the computer without the radiator in the loop, and so far it seems to be running slightly cooler than before. I know I'm getting more flow because of less restriction in the lines, maybe that much more water passing through the evaporator is enough to cool it more?

So the current plan is to have the main cooling loop to consist of the pump, cpu block, (eventually gpu block) and the evaporator. I'm going to install a switch into the cooling system that will change the flow after the cpu block. The normal configuration will have water flow from the cpu block to the evaporator, then to the pump, while the alternate configuration will direct the flow from the cpu block to a radiator, and then output directly in front of the pump, effectively bypassing the evaporator. This will let me choose between the evaporative cooling system and the traditional radiator based cooling system. During the summer I will make a setup that will sense the water level in the evaporator, and if the level drops to the point where there is only enough water to use in the radiator loop, make it automatically switch over to the radiator loop. I figure this would make a system that could be used for long periods of time without being directly monitored, while still making sure the liquid cooling system doesn't go dry.

okay i am completely blown away by this setup...sooo awesome.

but i was wondering if those fans on the reservoir are blowing outside air into the water system??

Thanks, and yes, the fan mounted on the front of the reservoir is blowing air into the reservoir. It blows cooler, dry air into the reservoir where it passes over the falling water droplets and gathers water vapor (remember, water vapor is hotter than liquid water in this case) which is then vented out the top of the computer.

I love this, something truly innovative and unique. Good luck in MOTM, in my opinion you deserve it!

Awesome build! I always enjoy seeing corsair H60 mods since it's a great pump and has been underdesigned by corsair.
However, this connection here really scares me:

One slight leak, that could be a bad day.
