Just curious, does PB ban them only from that server or from all servers?

Are you sure it was for actually cheating? I am of the opinion that punk buster has never actually stopped an actual cheater. It just keeps honest players honest by not letting them use some third party tools to cheat. However, I certainly know I've have fought long and hard to get PunkBuster updated to play a game a of BF2142.

BF3 is going down the toilet.

I think you meant to say, "BF3 has been in the toilet since before it was released."

It's a fun game, there are some good cool things added to it, but let's be honest:

* It hasn't lived up to it's hype
* It did very little to improve on BF2 and move the series forward with new ideas
* They removed some of the actual functioning parts of the series in this new release
* The netcode is absolutely atrocious
* It was used to spearhead an infestation of Origin into the gaming scene
* Released without mod capabilities

And the list goes on. I'm not saying I don't enjoy the game. I do. But it's just not that great.

I'll run around a building and they look like they completely lost me, when I can hear them perfectly fine.rolleyes.gif
Your average pub player has no sound. Or has no idea what they're supposed to listen for....

Depends on what kind of servers you play on. Hackers tend to go on 64/64 player servers because those yield the best results. Luckily the server I player on HT Hostile Takeover allows voteban and votekick and they also ban you for MAV riding and mortaring.

Those streaming messages are reports from servers world wide, not the one you are on.

So, when it pops up you are seeing everything!

He has a good point though - it's essentially the point that I make in every single one of the "______ game has ____ cheaters/hackers" threads. The average player simply has no clue what it means to be good at a game.

Many players haven't put a thousand hours into a game and can't wrap their head around it - an equal number have put that thousand hours in but their natural skill ceiling is basically a floor. A small number are truly skilled, and are, quite literally, godlike in comparison and will butcher the casual gamers.

I'd wager a lot of money that 90% of the hacking accusations in any game are just half decent competitive players toying with the less skilled...

EDIT: I like to use Starcraft 2's rankings as an example of skill level since many have experience in it. Fact: Everyone below master league is garbage. I played for a while - I don't have the skill to play an RTS (or drive, like I did for Unreal Tournament) and I made diamond league with ease. I am a pitiful SC2 player. If you think diamond-level players are good, you're a moron.

I run a 48 player server and i have banned about 40 hackers in total. But people call hacks ALL the time, when most odd deaths are just due to lag of some sort... So there are hackers out there, just gotta find a good moderated server!

Just so you know... BF2 wasn't released with mod capabilities either.

Anyway. The hacking has spread all over. It doesn't matter if it isn't blatant hacking. There are ALOT of people that only use wallhacks and/or wallhacks + aimbot that only aims at the chest. The subtle hackers know to keep their KD in check.

Those are the people that really hurt the game.

Right, not released with but they came! I'll admit anything is possible here but from the words of DICE it seems as it stands now we'll never see mod capabilities for BF3. Doesn't affect me, but I know it would add a lot of interesting things into the game if they available. We have DLC instead of mods these days - sadly.
