Urgent! Help! PLEASE!

Thread Starter
So I built my first PC today from scratch.

I am pretty sure everything is connected but the computer wont start mad.gif

It appears that it turns on but only for half a second. It's weird though because the keyboard lights up and so do the start and reset button on my motherboard.

I am using a 2500K and a Z68 motherboard.

PLEASE help me mad.gif

pictures?

list all the components you're using so we have a better idea of what you're working with.

is it powering on and then switching off or powering on and then reseting? are you getting any beeps?

make sure it's not shorting out on anything.. make sure EVERYTHING is plugged in and seated properly.. try with one stick of RAM.
just some quick ideas before you give us a bit more info.

Well I plugged in the 8 pin (4 pin x 2) into the motherboard, the 8 pin connectors into the GPU (2 x 8pin), my RAM is installed good and it wont post or anything.

It goes for about 1 or maybe half a second and then just cuts out. The funny thing is that the keyboard LEDs are on and so are the start and reset buttons on my motherboard.

What do I do? I really want it up and running confused.gif

4/8 pin power connected? Pics would be great.

You also dont mention the 24 pin power, I assume that's plugged in?

I can't get pics sorry redface.gif

And yes, my 4/8 pin (all 8 pins) are connected.

I am freaking out! I really am redface.gif

I tried using one stick of RAM and it didn't work. My CPU is installed properly and so are my SSD's.

What can I do? Also I have all 16 pins (2 x 8 pin) connected to my GPU. Maybe should I try it with one 8 pin connector?

Thanks!

Yes it is plugged in.

Z68 has connections for on-board video. Try taking the card out and just using the bare minimum CPU, 1 stick of ram and no HDD's and see if you can get into the BIOS.

i would take everything apart and start again from scratch. make sure that everything is plugged in right. maybe you left someone without power. can you reset bios on that board? if not just pull the battery for a few seconds and try again. but i would take everything apart and start from scratch.

You could try removing all but the CPU and PSU and see if it posts then (Hook the monitor up to the onboard DVI port) Then take it from there - adding bits and bobs one at a time. When I say everything, I mean everything - all USB headers too!
