Can I combine my fans light switch?

Hi guys,

I have 4 Apollish Twister UCAP12-S fans. I've cut the temp diods and joined those cables so they work at 100% or whatever speed I set in my Heatmaster (soon to be replaced with a Aquaero). They are connected to my Heatmaster thru a 3-pin common conector but they have another two cables that go to a button to turn the LEDs on and off. Picture below.

450

I would like to combine those switches into one toggle switch so I can turn those light (along with the cold cathods) on and off by pressing one single button on the front of my case. How can I do it? If I "join" all those cables from the 4 fans and cathods, won't I get a short circuit? I don't have the actual values for the current in the fans lights or my cathods. Should I put them in separate switches?

BTW, I'm planning on adding at least 3 more fans. Will a single switch take the heat?

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to use a latching switch to control the leds. Match the wires from the two fans, combine the matching pairs separately and have them each side of the switch.

Something like a 3 amp rated switch should have no problem with plenty of leds. The average led draws around 20ma. I don't know how much the cathodes would draw. You'll want the switch rated at 12V.

To add the cathodes may be trickier as the switches are usually integrated but it's the same principle.
Keep all the current carrying wires on one side of the switch and you'll be fine.
