PC won't run.

Ok so I just built a new PC and it starts but only goes for 5-10 seconds and shuts off. After it shuts off, about 5 seconds later it starts again for 5-10 seconds.

What is the problem? What can I do?

Thanks.

If you can get it to POST (power on self-test) beep, it will tell you if something is off.

Nothing beeps.

You have to plug a known working speaker into the correct speaker header pins on the mobo. If the mobo turns on but there is no beep, it's possible the CPU is faulty. Test your memory, make sure that your BIOS version supports your CPU, and then you'll have eliminated some possible problems.

First, check to make sure everything is plugged in and properly seated, and your RAM is in the proper slots. Then, when you first boot up the computer, you need to post into the BIOS and set that up correctly. Then, save and exit to boot up Windows.

Check the voltage of the PSU. Happened to me. Take it to a computer repair shop and have them check the PSU. Take it out of the case first so it will be cheaper that way. Good Luck.

My motherboard makes its own beeping sounds. When I took out the RAM, it beeped. Also what are the chances of my CPU being faulty? My CPU has no bent pins and neither does my motherboard.

My PC only turns on for half a second, I can't get it to POST/BIOS.

Could it be that maybe my PSU is faulty?

How can I check the voltage? I don't have any tools to check it redface.gif I am thinking it might be my PSU too.

My lights on my keyboard light up and so do my LEDs for my start and reset button on the motherboard after the power fails. Why would this be if the PSU is faulty?

Thanks for the help everyone, I'll rep you when I have time and when I feel a bit better (my problem is making me feel sick).
