Auto voltage giving me 4.0ghz @ 1.32v 955BE

I'm a little mind blown I've researched a few and everyone would say 1.4v is minimum for hitting 4.0ghz.. This is on my M4A87TD EVO and it's my first time having this auto volt thing and I've set the voltage to 1.385v via bios and kept auto volting on. (My original set up was with a MSI 870 G45 and it was 1.4v @ 4.0ghz)

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2208328
Bam, I get this I think auto voltage has given me 1.320v @ 4.0ghz

Am I missing anything or have I just found a golden chip...

PS. temperature is at 55* under full 100% load.
OC MORE ?! or Am I in trouble ?!

Don't OC more. Take what fate granted you and be happy with it wink.gif
If the reading is correct, it's a fine chip.

I'm still so mind blown.

I read over again and remembered I had auto volting on my old board (DUH!) and now I wonder... " Was I over volting for 4.0ghz " -Troll face meme moment-

I kinda want 4.2Ghz, does this mean I have an excuse to buy a better cooler and video card. Oh the excitement! thumb.gif

Congrats.

Before you go any higher put some of these on your vrms . . .

and don't let go of that deneb . . . and that mobo.thumb.gif

Gawd damn, I didn't expect the M4A87TD EVO (which I forced you to buy, LOL) to give actually give you THIS big of an OC "leap" O_O

<1.35V is amazing, bro.  Congrats!

And I'm pretty sure you can get to 4.2 with your existing cooling.  There should be a BIOS "save profile" option which will allow you to save these settings and go back to them anytime, i.e. if you don't fancy an extra 200-300Mhz (which probably won't make a huge performance difference in most apps anyway).

Having recommended this board in the past, I know that a good OC on the M4A87TD EVO can actually be maintained with bare FETs as long as airflow in the case is good and does reach that area - the 8+2 phase allows for heat/power load to be more split up between components, allowing them to each run cooler.  So they are more tolerable in the end.

The situation is a lot better than his previous 870-G45 (known for failure) none the least and if the VRMs do decide to overheat to the point where they must protect themselves, over-current protection should automatically throttle the CPU speed and voltage and prevent any catastrophic failure from happening.  It should be noticeable during a stress test if the VRMs are too hot to run without heatsinks after about 10-20 minutes of continuous load.  At 1.32V they're hardly being stressed much more than a 955 at stock clocks/stock voltages.  The investment and time it takes to get to a store may not be worth it in the end.

Not bad. But, I've seen 4.1 @ 1.35v which I think is better. He was also running the stock cooler. Why do all the people with the best chips use stock coolers?!? Gah. My 955 takes at least 1.475v for 3.7 frown.gif

That's nice, I have the C2 stepping and I need 1.36 for 3.6 and this chip runs hotter than hell even with aftermarket cooling on.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I seriously thought I was doing something wrong at one point.
Should I keep auto volting on and aim for that extra 200Mhz ?

I don't think I would be in trouble with my VRMs since they're A LOT better than the 4+2 phase I had on the earlier board. Even tempted buy a friend that is selling his 580 for $250. Hmmm decisions decisions.
