IP Problems - Page 2

Are there any other DOCSIS cable carriers in your area that share infrastructure? Maybe you're pulling an IP from a competing ISP?

2 usable you idiot.

Ok first off, lets help you with some clarification. A /32 is a single host or IP address. A /30 is 4 IP's however only 2 are useable. Second the network block you are referring to for CSC is for a /8. Third the IP you had assigned from Comcast was dynamic, based on you stated it was listed as a /30 it tells me they had your business set for static. When you rebooted your device it sounds like it may have cleared the settings and reverted it back to dynamic hence why you are not able to get back in.

Solution - contact Comcast to verify your settings, also verify you have the right network block being used since the ARIN database has it assigned to CSC.

Thread Starter
I called comcast and they reset the settings. But I was able to use 4 addresses somehow. I had 50.77.134.80-83 which is why i said I had 4 addresses.

50.77.134.80 255.255.255.252(aka /30) would have been the network bock
50.77.134.81 255.255.255.252(aka /30) most likely would have been Comcast router IP
50.77.134.82 255.255.255.252(aka /30) most likely the IP assigned on your router
50.77.134.83 255.255.255.252(aka /30) would have been the broadcast address

A /29 would have gave you 6 useable IP's 2 of which would be used for the routers, 1 on your router 1 on their router.
That would leave 4 IP's left
So Example referenced from above
50.77.134.80 255.255.255.248(aka /29) would have been the network bock
50.77.134.81 255.255.255.248(aka /29) most likely would have been Comcast router IP
50.77.134.82 255.255.255.248(aka /29) most likely the IP assigned on your router
50.77.134.83 255.255.255.248(aka /29) static useable IP 1
50.77.134.84 255.255.255.248(aka /29) static useable IP 2
50.77.134.85 255.255.255.248(aka /29) static useable IP 3
50.77.134.86 255.255.255.248(aka /29) static useable IP 4
50.77.134.87 255.255.255.248(aka /29) would have been the broadcast address
