Intel HD3000 allocating memory.

post #1 of 8

I have Intel HD3000 and I can allocate up to 1760MB Dynamic video memory. But is there ay point in that? I watched maximum GPU memory usage while running Furmark and it never got over 120 mbit. The notebook name is Acer aspire 4755.

It depends on what you are doing with your gpu. Fur mark doesnt normally load up your gpu memory during testing. But games and other applications that use the gpu can use more memory when needed.

I have a Dell Vostro 3450 with 4 gigs of ram and i personally have plenty of free memory for whatever I need.

Are you talking about this?

xcHZR.jpg

If I remember right, it's dependent on how much RAM you have installed, perhaps among other things. At 8GB, it'll be at 3GB, and any more RAM won't raise it higher. This isn't the same as the RAM an IGP uses from the system as dedicated to itself. This is something else.

If you're talking about actual dedicated system RAM that the IGP takes for itself, and you can't adjust it, then... I don't know.

Dynamic means it allocates whatever it needs on-the-fly. So if Furmark is using 120 MB system will only allocate 120 MB. If suddenly it needs 512 MB system will allocate 512 MB.

Dynamic = on-the-fly.

If you are talking about what I pictured above, there is really no reason to change it, if you even can. It's not something the system fully steals for IGP use only (the 128MB you are referencing, however, is, and if that's what you want to change but the BIOS won't allow you to, then I don't know).
