It won't boot without a graphics card as your motherboard doesn't have on-board graphics. It will check for display and fail...

Should beep if it doesn't detect display, and also turn on the LED next to the PCI-E slot, but this is worth a try.

It does not start at all, not with any graphics card nor without one. When I hit the "Power"-button nothing happens. Therefore I can not get to a point where I am able to install software. I believe the motherboard has retired.

AM3+ is backwards compatible with AM3; it does work.

Did you make sure your case wiires were all plugged into the MOBO jumpers for power/ reset, HDD etc.(double check those)? Also you probably checked the PSU power switch on the back too. Just by chance probably won't help but reset your BIOS as well and if your MOBO had any switches make sure you didn't swipe one by mistake. If all of that failed then you could of fried the MOBO, like the other poster stated your MOBO would beep at least if it wasn't detecting a GPU.

LOL, suddenly the system starts again. I have not done anything. It's like it regenerated, as if it were a living orgamism. Wow, that's quite surprising, that it just works again after a couple of days

Any ideas why that could be? I really did not do anything to the PC, it just "rested". smile.gif

No idea on that one, but the important thing is it works now. But I did put some more thought into it and I thought it could have been a slightly exposed wire touching the case, maybe from a molex or something else (sometimes when the molex gets plugged in, a power or ground wire can pop out abit causing the system to crash if the wire touches anything). That happened to me a while ago and the same thing happened but I caught it right away (I forgot about that one). But congrats and maybe you might want to check all all your connections and make sure there in place and connected firmly. thumb.gif
