MSI GTX570 TFIII PE hardmod - Page 3

*i didnt trace to pin on mine.. mods were already confirmed redface.gif

As for testing the OCP mods.. use pencil first.. you can monitor OCP % in GPU-Z.. you may see some change when you pencil hard. Other than that.. you should see no other affects. So if GPU start acting funny or refuse to start.. clean pencil off and restart. Basically.. your testing with pencil to confirm that your not modding something other than OCP.

How do I monitor it? where in GPU-Z?
And what if I just short those 4 out? Am I risking bricking the card?
And if they were confirmed, which pin was it?

And I'm not familiar with pencil, I've never done it... so it means I just rub a pencil on those resistors and it works?
Done it... there is slight change in stability... I also did pencil on SF, measured the resistor and got 22.1kohm so I guess that's good!
Think I can short out OCP now?

Can I add some caps to it too? You're the expert. What can I add to increase the OC potential? My load temps don't exceed 45°C when doing vantage or 3dmark11, neither in crysis or crysis warhead...

BIG props go to CL3P20 for helping me get through the steps and teaching me a lot on the way. Thanks again!
Now it's OCing time!
Maybe some capmods later if I go mental.
Want to do Vmem mod too =) Gotta figure it out! rolleyessmileyanim.gif

cheers.gif nice work man. If you would be so kind as to link these pics in a new post, over in the vmod essentials thread... we can get these added to the library thumb.gif

*From testing my mod'd 6950 [same power circuitry we are talking about here though..]

There is a small gain in voltage under load, of ~ +.015v after OCP mod.. so setting 1.35v = ~1.377v real under load.

If you here a lot of squeal under load, measure at the PCI-E inputs to make sure your +12v supply is not dipping too much [should stay within +/- .15v while under load and transition]. My TX650 was not sufficient once voltage approached 1.4v with core +1ghz.

Have fun! Post some results too.. I would like to see how it responds devil.gif

What do you use for testing the GPU... to put it under load. I use OCCT, but don't want to now, I don't want to burn it!

game at high res.. or use Extreme mode on Vantage and run only GPU tests wink.gif This will load memory, VRM's and push shaders & core with good res+AA&AF

When in tropics @1.3v it was 12.19-12.20v
same...................@1.4v it was 12.16-12.18v

You will be fine with that particular PSU.. its very strong and capable of much more.. you can see how a tenth of a volt is already munching a LOT more current from your PSU though wink.gif . Above 12v input is good.. just know the lower it is the more pronounced squeal will be from the mosfet/inductor stages when pushing high OC and GPUv. Im not sure at what point it starts limiting your output.. but most electronics like a small buffer to help deal with transitional load.
