The back of the Matrix can get hot too, not mod related as it would get hot with stock cooling. Im thinking if temps are fine and you seem to be giving enough voltage to hold 1Ghz oc you may be seeing the max your chip can do. Does the Card support Asus GPU Tweak mem timing changes. i know with the Matrix i have the ability to change mem timings, its suppose to allow for a higher oc by loosening timings. Ive not used it for mine as i dont know a thing of gpu mem timings but i go to that setting from time to time just to look.

Woke up to Norway, it's cold, but also means that components are cooler.. 22c on a H60 idle! biggrin.gif

im not sure if it does or not.

To be honest im happy keeping it at a healthy balance between core clock speed, voltage and temps. The optimum setting would be 950mhz clock, 1.138v which runs around 56c under load.

Im not sure why but most of my overclocks have become unstable if gaming for 20mins or so i get lock ups and event viewer reports driver restarted. I havent really played any graphics intensive games for more than 20mins or so since doing the mod so it may not be stable after all. I need to sit down and do some testing.

Run heaven3.0 for like 2+ hours... if it doesn't crash, your stable in my book.

I still get weird stuff goin on with my PC when I play some games though.

JC2 and crysis 2 seem to do this but they close my object dock... It's weird that they're the only 2 games that do that but yea, my object dock with all my icons is gone when I close the game.

I have a feeling its something more related to RAM though...but who knows...

Well i have backed my overclocks back down to 4.6ghz on the CPU as i kept getting a random crash on bootup and 950mhz at 1.138v is stable on my 580 after playing crysis 2 for an hour (normally crashes before that) max temp was 55c so not bad really.

Also just played crysis 2 for an hour @ 980mhz 1.160v and max temp 60c.

Think i'll keep it at 950mhz on a warm day and maybe bump upto 980mhz in the evenings when its cooler if i need it.

Probably need to have a mount custom made, although I wouldn't think it'd be far from the 680. From what I read the 670 is a 680 with one of eight smx units disabled and reduced core clock speed.

I put some sinks on one of my gtx480s, the Dwoods bracket with a 92mm aluminum fan, lapped the heatsink (took forever had some deep grooves factory) and took it to 1.212v 912mhz.

Ati tool picked stuff up that EVGA didn't while running FurMark or I would've had 932mhz. Went from 55fps average in Heaven to 77fps average. Had some jitter in the benchmarks since I didn't clean install, but I was playing with some old cards and didn't take the time yet.
Only got up to about 60c max... but I also bought some Magic 0.90amp 120mm fans, just waiting on a fan controller so I don't get the blow dryer sound again. Push/pull with these fans dropped temps about 3-4c.

Thinking I'm going to take the next step and run my own coolant lines since with the fan bracket they're in the way, maybe move em to the outside of the case, bolt em to the backside. Starting to wonder if I shouldn't have just went straight liquid cooling now haha rolleyes.gif.

After all that I'll still keep them at stock clocks, until they make a game that actually slows these down in sli.
