I thought I'd put my two cents in on this, since it seems people are being kind of closed minded about the idea. I was going to have mine controlled by the card until I realized how quiet the fans I bought were.

Here's a link for the motherboard pinouts.

Here's a pic of what the fan connector on my 9800gtx+ looks like, it has color coded wires unlike my 470s and now my 480s, which have/had black wires. (couldn't get the ridges on the connector to show up so I highlighted them).

321

They seem to be wired just like the 4pin fan header is, so I think it's at least 90% possible to hook it up to your aftermarket fans this way.
I know for a fact the yellow and black are positive and negative so that's 50% there. biggrin.gif

As much as most people hate ebay, I hate paying 10-15bucks for shipping on something that should only cost a buck or two at most.

I used these off ebay and my pcb temp doesn't go over 48c even with 2250mhz on the mem.
Just cleaned the memory with alcohol really well and let them dry, only had one fall off while reinstalling the card, think I accidentally got some water on it though.

How much worse? It may be due to higher ambient temperatures.

2nd that, high speed yate loons are 88cfm and 620 stock fans are 81.3cfm so it'd be only 1-3c gain in push/pull.

Another thing make sure you're running off a 4pin molex and not the 620s 3pin plug, since the 620 doesn't run the fans full speed.

Also how'd you end up placing the radiators? I remembered you had this for a setup.

Hey guys, I don't have "the mod" currently, I did last year with just zip ties, and a h50 before these fine OCN artisans started crafting custom mounting brackets, they look nice. Out of need to fill a vacancy on my folding team, I decided to dust off my old GTX 465.

Well folding on that thing @ stock volts, and clocks I got up to 73c with just a regular reference evga gtx 465, which wasn't horrible, but since I was going to be folding on it 24/7 until I find a replacement I figured I should put my MCW82 on it. Out of laziness I just left the reference unisink on, so it's a similar setup to what you guys are doing, but I'm using a GPU block, and Swiftech MCP-350 pump with a Swiftech 120 res/rad combo. It's the same basic setup though, I'm running it w/ the block, reference unisink, and no shroud.

I noticed really quickly that my PCB temps were climbing, eventually it got up to 44C, I felt the unisink, and it was hot, (duh). I took a spare 120mm case fan, and positioned it to blow on the unisink. That lowered the PCB temp down to 37c, pretty quickly.

I just thought I'd share my findings with you guys, as it may be beneficial to have a fan blowing on the unisink in addition to the regular fan since there is no shroud directing airflow. I know I'm going to leave mine there.

1 intake before the rad, and 1 exhaust on the other side.

Much better radiator setup now, they don't impede eachother.

I have the Yate's on molex too, my pump is powered through a splitter though with the other pump, to pwr_fan. Should they each get their own? regardless, I don't think that's the issue.

They should be fine they don't pull that much power especially just pumps alone. I'd assume one of the cards is warmer than the other since it's being used as an exhaust, you might want to try what others have and run intake front and back and ehaust top and side. You could also sandwich them fan/rad/fan/rad/fan in the front intake but that would give you similar results to what you already have.

Even though they weren't setup to great to begin with, they still had cooler air going through both rads which would give overall lower temps.

Nice find Derivo, didn't think they made em!
