a 620 would easily do the job. Mine tops out at 54C. If you were super crazy you could take off the IHS and that'd get you even better temps too!
I think this 620 is absolutely perfect for a GPU. I'm not sure on the life of the actual cooler but I'm hoping it'll last for at least 3-5 years. Think, kepler is out so in a year or two we'll probably all upgrade to kepler cards, whether that's the 670-680 or 7** series cards, then whatever is next will hopefully have less heat which will make it even a better cooler for the GPU. So sawweeet
670-680 are out lol

I think about it from time to time and its not going to be an easy task. Luckly most shrouds are screwed to the heatsink and not attached to the pcb, this may offer some ease. I cant see this shroud retention without some cuts to the shroud to allow for the water lines. It may be nessasary to just allow for stock fans to be removed from the shroud and attached to your bracket, this will lessen the end user cost of purchasing another 120mm/any fan and also allow for the stock fan to be plugged into the pcb again..... no more unsightly addional wires. A swing arm to move the fan to various locations of the pcb..... idk, just throwing out ideas if had in my mind. WIthout the fabrication machine im not really sure what is possable........... Good luck and cant wait to see what you come up with.

Im in love with the H2O 920 on my GTX 470, my pc is so quiet now. I put the fan on extreme settings out of curiosity and holy hell, its so noisy. Custom mode keeps my card at 58 C while running Furmark with no noise at all. So Im very happy with this. Thanks!

Yeah I'm at 61c right now F@H, bottom card is 56c (85c easy before)

I had better temps before push-pull so I'm thinking maybe the exhaust is impeding air going through the rad.

Not really, core is 750 MHz @ 1v
58C on full load is awesome for me, coming from reference cooled Fermi. But the noise, the noise is gone <3

Yay, firefox crashed while I was typing!

Anyhow, I was saying that you have to remember that the 470s and 480s are power hogs due to the larger die size so it takes more to cool than the other chips (460s, 560-70-80s).
470/480s stock can consume up to 160watts.
Comparison of some comparable cards, pretty sure when you start overclocking the 470/480s start to consume way more.

When taking my 480s to 1.213 on furmark extreme burn in they can hit temps in the lower 70s with 2000rpm fans (mid 60s with 3500rpm+ fans, but they're too loud).

I made a custom loop to get the rads out of the case with 2000rpm fans and my temps are 55c/32c stock and 72c/34c max oc.

Ran them in series which slowed the flow down a little, so thinking about opening a pump up to see if there's a way to over volt/un-restrict the motor or epoxy larger fittings. Looking to put a larger radiator on in place of the stock ones as well.
