I was hitting a wall trying to overclock past 990 MHz, half way through FurMark the screen would turn black and the only way out was a hard reset. When I lowered the voltage, FurMark would run to completion but there were some visual artifacts. The GPU temp was still under 80 C, so I thought the PCB or VRM temperatures may have been getting too hot.

I tied 2 120mm fans to the side and I was able to pass FurMark at 990 MHz with increased voltage (1.138V) with no visual artifacts that I could spot.

right now, my temps (vanilla cooler) are hitting 64c full load, which isn't too bad for 1.175v i'm hoping?

Thanks! I want to try taking it as high as possible using FurMark first. Then I will need to do the same thing to my second card.

Is there a reason why most members are using the Kuhler 620 units instead of a 920?

Im using a H50 coz I had it spare after upgrading to a H100 tongue.gif

Pretty good for vanilla thumb.gif

Keep an eye on your temps with those volts but your card will let you know if its struggling tongue.gif

Hi tomato, see your from vancouver and im a couple few hours to the interior of you. Lucky guy with NCIX ( FIVE STORES-trying to outpace tim hortons), aways cost me money when i go in there.

Like your rig and pics, well done. I laughed when i saw how you mounted those side fans for cooling as ive used that method myself not that long ago. I would be interested in more pics of your card and the process if youve got some more. Im looking to see how your retained the shroud on the lowest card, took me forever to figure that part out. Your also missing the shroud for the top card, did you run out of room.

+reps

PS. Whats your max oc and temps/voltage before and after the mod

My card could do just over 1010 @ 1.150 plus all the over voltage on the card... 1.293 when at full load, fans set to the highest speed. Temps were in the upper 80s and it idles at 34c-ish. After the mod i could benchmark the card to1043 @ 1.293v shroud fans max, and 2x rad fans at 2500 rpm (loud but for benchmark purposes). Temps were 52-56 max depending on app (not any type of burntest, just games and such) and ive seen 17c startup temps with idle moving up to 19c max for hours afterwards.

Two matrix platinum.... im so jelly

Yeah, it seems the PC market is becoming fairly large in Vancouver. I purchased most of my parts from MemoryExpress in Richmond since they price beat any store by "25% of the difference".

I actually didn't bother keeping the shroud. The second card hasn't be modded yet so that's why the shroud is still on.

An easier way would be to just zip tie the bracket on top of the cooler like williampv did here.

*edit: I didn't realize I was talking to the same person! I see in your other post that you secured the bracket by making your own clips, you're not satisfied with that?

thanks =) i had to flash the bios and unlock to 1.2v, (limit was 1.1v)
1.175v shouldn't be too high as long as the temps are under control right?
