Don't spread it with a credit card; that creates air bubbles. Let the cold plate spread the TIM.

Got everything in and made the install!

It was a little harder to connect the bracket than I expected it to be but it all turned out alright!

Card: EVGA 670 gtx ftw

Idle 27C
Temp decrease on load: 11C (This is without my adapter for pwm control by the gfx card-right now they are on the mobo which is only running the fans at about 60%%.)

Noise: At load everything is less than 22db! If the ac is on you can't even hear it!

Printed Circuit Board - this is the temmperature of the board itself and is not an accurate way to measure VRM temps. My 470 will hit 58C before it turns itself off and the VRMs shokld be able handle much more than that.

To other guy, he is probably using GPU-Z.

What's the point of the PCB temperature sensor then?
Beats me... I've been wondering myself. Keep your card from melting? Maybe quality control for manufacturers?

I don't disagree with you, and I usually advocate the "blob method" (that's what I call it, anyway) wink.gif However, the sheer size of the IHS on my GTX570 seemed to make the spread inconsistent. I test-blobbed it and the spread was uneven and not reaching to the edges. Given some additional time under pressure, it may have evened out better... I just didn't feel like the contact patch was good enough. As it is, my idle is at 27C so I think the credit-card method worked ok for me. thumb.gif

Ive always smeared with a cc when doing the mod as mentioned above for the sheer size of that thing but after removing the IHS i now use a spot in the middle.

Yeah I use to spread it about ~6 years ago before I found out it was bad. If anyone doesn't know why you shouldnt spread it this is why

Well, that would explain why my CPU temps are so bad. I really need to reseat the cooler properly
