I guess my concern revolves around cooling for the VRAM/Mosfets. I hadn't seen too much talked about with it, and from what I've found I've seen mostly just stick on heat sinks.

Was wondering if anyone had found solid solutions for this or not. I'm going to keep digging.

I have a Gigbyte GTX 560 with the windforce heatsink.

Pretty sure that is the one I have

MSI just says its a Geforce GTX 560...

Simply because it's worthless tongue.gif

Vram and mosfet won't heat up enough to need more cooling

Um... I'm no GPU expert or anything, but it's definitely not worthless. While some users will have enough airflow that this isn't a real issue in typical usage, others don't. I have an FT02 - more airflow than most - and I'm fine with all of my fans at 100%, but if I slow them down at all my 470s will lock up and turn off due to the VRMs.

The general recommendation in this thread so far has been to keep the stock heatplate if you have a reference card or buy heatsinks or a heatplate if you have non-reference card. I can't speak to the VRM heat of a GTX 560, but they will get hot, and you would definitely not be the first GPU owner to blow a VRM (and in turn the whole card) due to improper cooling. I know my cards start throttling and then turn themselves off when the VRMs get too hot, and the 560 probably does too, but who wants that?

That swiftech heatsink is probably overkill, but it looks great so if that's what you want and you have the money go for it. Otherwise you can just grab some cheap heatsinks or use the heatplate/heatsinks that may have come with your card.

I agree with claes, it is not worthless.

Conventional wisdom suggests that mounting heatsinks to the Vrams and mosfets will always benefit the cards performance.

With dwood's bracket, you can mount a fan to cool these components. If you dont have a bracket, cooling that area of the card can be as simple as mounting a side panel fan to your case.

Just because Nvidia users can not monitor the temps of the mosfets, doesnt mean they dont need some love. smile.gif

I would agree as well that VRM cooling is not worthless. You have a cpl options which is basically get one of Dwood's brackets with the fan mount, get this heatsink set, put a side fan fan directly on the GPU OR you could do all options for total peace of mind thumb.gif

I personally decided fans would be enough cooling

Just ordered a 620 and I'm talking to dwood about a plate. I'll update with pictures when I get it done.

Just bought a used Antec 920 and put in an order for a fan bracket from Dwood for my new EVGA GTX 670 FTW. One question about the 920. Does the Antec chillcontrol software still work even if it's cooling the GPU? Also, will the fan control work plugged into a Gelid VGA PWM adapter? I would like to control the fan speed of the radiator fans via Precision.

Chill control should work. It monitors the water temperature.
Specs on PWM contol are vague when it comes to predicting if two fans will work. People have had mixed results. Damage may results.
Some guidelines.
1. Only 1 tach wire connected from 1 fan. Like the 920 fan harness.
2. PWM wire connected to both fans should not exceed 5ma when grounded (and not connected to intended destination).
3. Consider getting the +12v from a PS four pin connector. Your GPU Boards wiring may not handle the extra load at this connector.
