The hell they wont, Just send it back, you dont need to tell them hey I lapped this lapped that. Just send it back and they will replace it. I have lapped GPU heat sinks before, didn't keep me from sending them back from RMA. Dont take the Holier than tho approach bud, nothing wrong with it. Dont make any more excuses to keep this faulty unit please, you can lap it again, but silence is golden (says on my PSU) biggrin.gif

DO IT! thumb.gif

I have an old mcr320 lying around here somewhere (don't think it's leaky, but if it is a nice shiny 140.2 rad might be in order) and was thinking of cutting the tubes on the 620 coolers near(ish) to the pumps, then with a Y-splitter, connecting them in parallel and finally hooking them up to the radiator and resevoir/T-line and then refilling with distilled water and a silver kill-coil... Should work in theory anyway. Unless someone can think of a reason this might not work that well?
First I actually have to get paid though... tongue.gif
Yeah, I know, I can hear people shouting to rather "get a proper loop if that what you're planning!" but personally (and I'm guessing this counts for most people that did this little mod) I'd much rather have something a little unique and maybe a bit odd instead of something that anyone can put together with off the shelf components. Also, we're modders FFS! thumb.gif
Again, awesome, AWESOME thread!

i wanted to do something like that, cheaper than a real loop and does the job just fine. But ran short on cash frown.gif
I dont know why you want to add a Y splitter, you can add a res if you want tho, like this guy here: http://www.overclock.net/t/990111/antec-k-hler-h2o-620-920-club/1160#post_15689542

before you send it in, give that H100 solution a shot. Its easy. plug it into a fan controller or add a 1N4001 or 4002 diode in series with the power. Lowers the pump speed just a hair, which might make an over rpm impeller vibrate less, causing less rub and then less noise. I just did the diode trick on my new H100, and the pump rpm went from 2200 to 1960. That rattle grinding noise it had is gone.

Anyway, this might be another fix that is easier than mine, and its easy to try as well. Even a speed controlled fan header on your mobo can work.

Well, I don't have any diodes (can you get these at radio shack?), and I don't have any fan controllers.. I don't even think I can control the mobo fans lol

yup, cheap too $1.29
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2036268&filterName=Type&filterValue=Diodes

I mean, its worth a shot at least. Do you have an 4 pin molex to fan 3pin adapters or a fan extension cable? thats the easiest way to splice it in. It goes on the +12 volt side (yellow wire on a 4 pin, red wire on a fan 3 pin. The diode end with the line is the (-) side and goes towards the pump. If you get it backwards, it wont conduct.

Let me know if you dont have that stuff, and I might be able mail you a cable with a diode, it just wont get to you as fast as going to radio shack

are you not able to buy a resister extention. My H70 came with one, lowers the fan rpm from full to 1200rpm, should work. Also for free you could hook it to your mobo fan headers and adjust in the bios.
This mod is tempting me so hard.

Edit:

Ok. Just bit the bullet.

I've just bought 2x Antec 620s. Tomorrow I'm gonna spend my last summer vacation day installing them on my 2x560ti (MSI Hawk). There are two things that I'm NOT doing: lapping the heatsinks (Couldn't find the appropiate sand paper) and removing the IHS (MX2 was out of stock, and I only have the traditional, thick and conductive AS5... don't want to take another risk).

My actual temps after playing BF3 for 1 hour (with 30ºC room temperature, vsync on, not ultra settings but almost):
GPU1: 76ºC
MEM1: 99ºC
VRM1: 65ºC
GPU2: 69ºC
MEM2: 96ºC
VRM2: 64ºC

I'm worried about the mem temps. With my SLI setup there isn't much space to put another fan blowing the PCB.

Gonna update my rig info and try to log everything.

Sweet, I'll definitely look into it and let you know if I need some help.

Would I check the bios to see how much the diode affected the pump speed?
not sure which bios you have, it's possible. it should read like a fan does

you might look at a program like speedfan or aida64 that will show rpms

You need some sort of cooling on those chips. Are there heat-sinks on any of those chips at all?
You could try a simple mount of a 120mm fan to the sides of both cards in SLI to blow on all the chips, like a memory cooler.
