Well, there isn't much of a difference between push and pull.

I didn't notice it's in push/pull; the pull fan is hidden pretty well.

Nah, not faulty, I'm just trying to reach SPCR quiet with GTX 470s in SLI (a lost cause). Honestly what you guys call quiet around here is loud to me smile.gif. I do need to reseat though, think I put too much paste on last time.
finally quiet

Those guys have some high standards over there. Remember reading about electrical noise and is consitered too much. It's good to have high standards

Im still planning on getting some Noctua 80mm fans and another bracket from dwood with the fan bracket (just got the basic ones to try them out), planning on doing a reseat with a different thermal paste; used some shin estu x23 and i think im going to try some IC Diamond 7? Just to see what works better. So far my clock is at 1024mhz.

Here are some pictures; i am not done with my build because my wallet is all out of cash for upgrades ): but its okay it already performs so i can always dress them up later better. I own 2x MSI 560Ti Twin Frozr II. My temps are 26 on idle and on load they go as high as 56 and sometimes 61-64 on those hot summer days when the computer is on full load for 8+ hours of gaming lol (saturdays) .

I have the Corsair H60's with dwood basic bracket. But highly suggest getting the fan attachment bracket because at one point my memory would fail and it would operate 10C hotter than now... the VRM's definitely get hot and can really crash your card when youre pushing higher than stock voltages.

I have the Corsair stock H100i fans on push and the stock H60 fans on pull on the H60 radiators for my video cards. In the future i plan on upgrading those to Cougar CF-V12's.

Im looking at the last pic in your post and just wondering to myself if you have ever held a fan (120/80mm) over the H100 mounting bracket holes to see if screw holes line up. Sure would be great if it did, it looks like it may work with a 80mm and just one side BOLTED to one leg of that H100 mounting bracket. Is that just me or does anyone else see that too thinking.gif

Hey uhm, I would like to do this with a Kraken x40 ( Since I'm using a Define R4 ), But I'm afraid that I will burn my VRM's in the procces without a spot fan.

So is it possible to passively cool it with just Swiftech VRM Cobber heatsinks?

[EDIT

Btw, I'm using a GTX 560 non ti.

lots clc users in the multithreaded mayhem contest.. and some clc mods. its amazing what guys accomplished by using these coolers.. both for cpu and gpu mods.

If the air ain't moving, it's burnin. A heatsink only helps to move the heat to the air. It doesn't take much, but you need some.
I have used 120mm fan on the side panel blowing on the video card.
I kept the base plate on the card as it doubles as a heat sink for VRM and VRAM.

Yes, but there is plenty of air getting pulled across my GPU as of now smile.gif

I guess it depends if you overclock or not, but even if you dont have some sort of air pointing at your cards your memory can actually fail you. I posted a thread earlier this week about how my memory was underclocked (stock at 2100mhz) and found instability even at stock core clock/shader clock; stock voltage; and even underclocked memory (2050 or even as low as 2000); i would see purple spots on the screen that would resemble gpu failure when running benchmarks like heaven bench on max. My cards idled at around 36-38 without a spot fan. Now with some really spare low CFM 60mm fans i put right on, i already get a 9-10C drop in temps ! Plus, i can run my memory clock back at 2100mhz without instability on bench. In fact im clocked right now at 2118. Seems like 2118 is the highest i can go so far without any instability.

I think the spot fan really makes a huge difference, the VRM's get really hot apparently especially if you OC (OC or not --its highly recommended). They even say 40mm fans with little CFM rating can do the job; as long as you have some sort of air cooling going on the mod you do. Your video cards get really hot.... try touching it with your finger while its hot on load. (just kidding, dont do that).

OH WOW. I totally didnt even think about that, was going to order some dwood brackets right now and was thinking oh god i have to wait like 2-3 weeks till i get these till i can start this mod.... but NO... i think i can actually fit it to one side of the leg; i have some machine screws and hex nuts left over.... i might actually just do that! Maybe even drill in a hole for an acrylic piece to work for the mounting since its hidden behind my housings... wow ! Probably a really creative idea im going to try as soon as my Noctua Fans come in smile.gif BTW: Did you mean H60 brackets? You kept saying H100 so i really was trying to figure out how i would fit fans on the bracket.... i was really confused cause i had an H100i.... but maybe you meant H100 as in H100i ? But now i understand you were referring to my H60*'s on my GPU's. biggrin.gif
