I will post some pics when I'm done building an "enclosure" (may be open system), I"m thinking of positioning the rad "pull" fans blowing on the VRM/Mem heatsink of my card from about 2-3" away, this will help me shrink the total size. Rad air isn't much warmer than ambient, right? Probably going to get some gentle typhoons for the push/pull. Also.....besides the great advice of some of you, I found a great deal on an H100 and went and got it today. I"m kind of OCD when it comes to using best cooling...which is how I ended up with an 8000btu cooling system for my desktop in the first place lol.

Rad air is significantly hotter than ambient when the GPU is at load. I have an accelero hybrid cooler and my initial setup was the rad and fan combo (positioned as bottom intake in my case)
as push directed towards the 80mm fan intake of my card's shroud. It gave me 57C Heaven full load temp. I then tried setting it up as bottom exhaust and it dropped the temp to 46C, so go figure smile.gif

Hey guys, any help on how to have the 4 pin fan controller (pwm) on the gpu match up with the 4 pin controller on my cpu cooler?

Thanks!

Thanks for this, I guess I'll have to point the rad air away from card, and get some more fans for the VRMs.

Yup. I even tried putting my palm near the rad while running Heaven and I can say that I do not want that hot air being anywhere near my components.

Just a note on cation, I have one card running two fans using a GPU to fan PWM wire and I have never had a problem. On my second card I tried it and I must have fried the circuit because it wont even run the original fan that came with the GPU.

There are adaptors which power the fan from a 4 pin molex and pass the Tach/PWM to the fan header.

Evercool has a better looking black mesh version, but it the connectors don't grip well. It needs some electrical tape help.

I could never get those to work. They'd always run at 100% for me.

Regarding those GPU-PWM to traditional PWM adapters, you'll want to be careful about how much voltage your fans are pulling from the card. Those tiny 80mm fans don't require near as much power as most aftermarket fans and you can blow your GPU's PWM if you're not careful.
