Has anyone found the best way of cooling the vrms? Cooler on the card itself, dwoods bracket with the fan mod or heatsinks?

I did the MOD with zip-ties and put back the original fan and plastic cover. Works fine for me and I have a second card now blowing hot air all over the place tongue.gif

i finally had a chance to clean out the rads. there was a bit of dust build up, but nothing a little bit of compressed air cant handle. now that theyre clear, im still seeing increased temps.

i recently added a second monitor, could that maybe have something to do with it? im gonna disconnect the 2nd monitor and see how that affects things.

Do you play games using both monitors?

With my reference cooler, my idle was at 35-36, but when I added another screen, even when just the screensaver was on the 2nd screen, I would idle at 50-60c.
Second monitors do cause temps at both idle and under load to be much higher. I found this out when a mate of mine had a single GTX 580 that was idling at about 48c when he had his tv connected via VGA as a second screen. As soon as he pulled the plug out of the second screen he idled at 34c.

My EVGA cards have a very small pcb, the backplate is waay larger. So i have a fan (120mm, on a dwood bracket) blowing air on the backplate and over the pcb in general. Keeps it all cool enough.

Can the swiftech MC14 heatsinks cool the VRMs passively?
