So duno. But that way I can change fan presets?

Like I say I'm not too sure on the regular Hxx models. You'll be best to ask on the Corsair Forums. Send me a link to the thread once you've posted as I'd like to keep an eye on the answer.

Thats what I bought, lights and control are worth the extra money in my opinion, but I am most definitely replacing the fans. I idle around 43 @1.15v and max at around 64 gaming. worth it in my opinion

take a small dab of thermal adhesive on the corners of the shim to your cooler, if you ever need to take it off you can just scratch it off and it wont affect the cooling surface.

Try a bigger shim mate. Now that's a shim.

An adaptor cable like this would pass the PWM and TACH signals, and power the fan from a power supplies 12v molex.

EVERCOOL has one in black sleeve, but it's junk. The connectors don't latch, just slip off (needs duct tape).
Just ordered both cables, they will arrive within 1-2 weeks biggrin.gif

Great, I hope you share your opinion. I'm using a home made set. I took two different adaptors and cut, stripped, soldered, and heat shrinked them together.

Will do, I will probably end up powering my 2 front fans and my rad fan with these cables, since the 2nd cable is molex powered and the first, as you said, carries the TACH and RPM signals from the first biggrin.gif.

Did any of you guys used this on a non reference model and had to buy heatsinks and a extra fan to blow to the vrm / RAM section? If so what did you buy?

Hey guys- I finally got all the stuff to go ahead and do the mod on my SLI 580s! I'm using dwood's brackets and Antec Kuhler 620's biggrin.gif

Here are some pictures of the process-

Prior to the mod (in Phantom 410)

580 backplates

Plastic Shroud cover removed

Antec Kuhler 620 (ended up cleaning off stock paste and using MX-4)

Bare card

620 attached to GTX 580

Top card modded and tested

42 celsius in Tomb raider for TOP card vs 71 for bottom!

Both cards installed!

43 c and 36 c respectively!

All in all, that was pretty easy, great fun, and I'm extremely satisfied with the results!

EDIT: pictures were out of order tongue.gif

570 non reference I was able to mount a close loop cooler on the card and it touches the heat spreader on the gpu. The stock PCB plate is still on so I got stock cooling with a larger side panel fan blowing over my cards.
