Well Finally gettting some progress on my mod.I did not think it would be such a job to get a shim. Went to two metal shops called a bunch of sheet metal places, metal suppliers online and local. No one could give me what I wanted except one online had c110 oxygen free copper with custom cuts 45mmx45mmx2.5mm. X2 Just 5 bucks cool huh. Nope they wanted 32.00 dollars mail it. Insane cant do that.So I'm having it mailed to my daughter thenk, she can sent it to me for about 3 bucks. But I dont want to wait so I tried making one. I took copper couplings cut them in half pounded flat and lap flat. Still alittle thin didnt really like so many layers. I got an idea from cravinmild [ hes like the champion for this mod] and took my old pump ripped it apart and used the base plate.
An old astek, dont even know what kind.Pretty neat looking the new h-55 looks alot differant
So I used the base and soldered one piece of couplng on top and it is just thick enough to work.
Anyways this is what I got. Hope it works, cant finish right now got to go and install a shower in the back house the wifes giving me stink eye for sitting here at my computer.rolleyes.gif Oh yea had to lap the pump to it had a bump in the middle.Boy that was alot of sanding my fingers are alittle raw.

looks good Mike, how fun was modding the base of the water pump tongue.gif i could hardly lift my arms by the time i was done cutting mine up and sanding it all. Thanks for the compliments thumb.gif those are always nice to hear, im glad to have been a help.

Yeap spent half the night sanding it down, out in my little shed. And my hands were spent. I've seen your titan mod once but when I went to look for it and I couldnt find it. I thought it was hooked on the end of your 560 but that is the 580 mod. Wanted to see if there was some more pearls of wisdom I could use. But yea thanks I didnt know what I was going to do when I realized that I realy didnt want a bunch of layers of solder. Silver solders only something around 78 thermal conductive to coppers 240. Then I remembered your mod so thanks really helped me so I can keep playing around with it while I wait for the custom shims. It would be interesting to see someone use a silver base on the pump. Or an out of case inclosed box with micro misters blowing on the rad and get real crazy and have a cooling tower for the water haha.

lol, ya sanding sucks biggrin.gif

I cant remember where i put that titan log, thought it was in my 560ti log also hmmm... let me look around and ill get back with a linky. I know what you mean about layering copper or soldering. I had to get silver solder as i could not find copper solder, thought it would be better then regular solder.

Even the shims they sell seem to have marks in them. down side to the softness of copper.

I also liked the cold block shot from the older unit. Never seen the AIO's setup like that.

Yea I thought it looked cool to. I did'nt know they had fins and channels on the block, but it makes sense. Now I've got to figure out how I'm going to mount it. I want to use screws and a bracket also as much of the shroud as I can. I like the way it looks stock so I would like to keep it as close as possible

nice mike...i always wondered how it lookd on inside too..
