Hello everyone! I'm about to jump into this mod. I have a spare H55 and had a couple of questions.
I want a clean look so I'm going to be skipping the zip tie method even though it is viable as I have industrial strength zipties, but they're white

I have a EVGA GTX 570 for this project
I'm going to use the bracket(s) that came with the H55 and drill holes through them as the mounting bracket. Kind of like how Markooler did it with his H90
http://www.overclock.net/t/1203528/official-nvidia-gpu-mod-club-aka-the-mod/4210#post_20173124

My question is, what size/length screws should I be using once I drill through the bracket?
I searched through the thread and came up with members saying
1) 1" long #4 screws
or
2) #4-40 screws

So my understanding is I would just need to get four #4 screws, plastic washers, and bolts that hold them in place.
Is there different sizes I should be considering for the screws?
I have a dremel handy and have confidence I can create a bracket from the existing mounting brackets that came with the unit itself.

If somehow I mess up with the bracket I will be ordering from keplar dynamics aka sigma_cool:
http://keplerdynamics.com/sigmacool/mki
Does anyone have any experience with this bracket? Everything on their site says it will work with the stock vrm plate. ~$20 shipped.
This is my backup plan but I'm hoping I can do this all on my own - I like modding!
Dwood is out of the question as it seems he has vanished. Along with everyone's money that placed orders.

Please let me know! Thank you very much!

try looking at this as a 3rd option

http://www.overclock.net/t/1439434/gpu-cool-the-universal-bracket-chance-to-win-a-psu-cover-when-you-order/0_10

works with any size or shape aio coolers block

Thanks for the information. I checked out the youtube video in that thread and it looks decent enough but doesn't seem reliable. I'd want something more secure for the mounting bracket. That and I forgot to mention that I will be using my stock shroud along with the stock fan to cool the VRM. Should be easy enough to dremel an opening for the liquid cooler.

I was going for more of a clean stock look with the stock shroud but I'm sure someone else that doesn't care about aesthetics will find that link very helpful.

I have a Sigma_Cool on my GTX 670 and it worked out fine. I also cut the stock base plate to allow mounting without a shim(upto 13c better cooling compared to the shim that the sigma_cool came with). Not an issue for you unless you remove the IHS from your card.

Your screw size seems about right since 6-32 was just a hair too big.

I think the universal bracket should be more then secure enough as long as you use some foam take up the difference from the fan mounting screw(and you would not even be using that screw because you are keeping the stock blower). It is similar(2 screws only) to the AMD mount being used on H80i style coolers by other users.

As for aesthetics.... smile.gif

i have that bracket that i linked too..it may look flimsy..but trust me..im capable of picking up/carrying more weight than what two beer keggs weigh together...and even i couldnt bend that bracket with my bare hands...so its very strong..
in fact 20min ago i cleaned out the setup..checked all fans..wires..attached..locked..loaded..bracket is still in tact..not moving..not goin any were soon..till i get my shroud mod goin too..still waiting on my buddy to find it..he misplaced it apparently..

Anybody know if the EVGA 770 backplate is compatible with the Dwood bracket and an H80i?
Yep it will be and so will mine.
The backplate has holes to allow access to the screws
post #5479 of 8626
Dwood made an H80i bracket?
