[Official] NVIDIA GPU Mod Club - AKA "The Mod" - Page 812

Hola! My GTX 970 just arrived (first GPU on the 'green side'). I replaced my R9 270 with the identical setup, only swapping out the zip ties. Pictures are... mediocre. Let me know if there is some other angle anyone would like to see. And thanks for all the knowledge in this thread! Second time with this mod was much easier after perusing the comments here.

The backplate on this is nice, but unlike the MSI 'Gamer' edition it doesn't have the full front-plate. It DOES however come with a heat sink across the VRMs which is really nice.

Idle around 25, load at stock clocks around 40, OC core of 1400 hits 48-50.

You get +Reps for using zipstraps. Everytime I see zippys I think WIN thumbsupsmiley.png

As soon as I see your card I think of my 580 platinum. I had dual 90mm fans in the shroud much like your card has. I made some standoff type things which allowed the fans and shroud to be reattached. My card was just a bit thicker then normal... which was a generous two slot wink.gif

Wait, so you're telling me the budget version of the MSI 970 comes with a backplate but my Gaming Edition didn't??????????????????????

I did... not exactly "The Mod" but I slapped the EVGA Hybrid kit on my reference card... results are astounding... from 84°C peak temperatures I went down to 49°C at full load wheee.gif

wow buit it won't work on my gpu as I run a Galax 980ti HOF but if I mod it myself with zipties or make my own bracket it will work. But I'm not going to mod a 1-2 weeks old card yet

Also did you see major performance increase. I suppose you did cause it won't throttle any more. My gpu is running at 70C-74C on load and stable on 1430mhz core so far. I know I have a weak oiverclockable card but that's just how it is. Nothing I can do about it except maybe this mod and get my pcb, vrm, etc temps also lower

True, let the GPU "settle" down a bit, then mod it biggrin.gif But yeah, even with the zip-tie mod your temps should drop significantly. As for performance increase, I have yet to OC my GPU, but I have a few modded BIOS-es ready made by @Mr-Dark so there is definitely that planned smile.gif
