If anyone wants a good chuckle this morning, just a reminder: don't post about using AIOs on GPUs in the Air Cooling forums. Some choice quotes so far, after I posted temperatures of a GTX 980 Ti Hybrid:
Quote:
Sorry that link is extremely misleading. I'm not believing that kind of cooked up 'test hype' that is so full of holes it won't even function as a sieve.

Yeah--every review of the GTX 980 Ti Hybrid is "cooked up test hype". Guys, take off the AIOs--we've been hit by a "hype train".

Let us see the same GPU air cooler temps when it's not being forced to use much hotter air .. or .. how about shouwing us how hot the GPU get if the CLC is using the same temperature air the air cooler is using!

This is it! Somehow, we need GPUs to use cool outside air. Hmm...how can we do that? The obvious solution is to use a liquid cooled radiator as an intake...but, it needs to be done with an air cooler. Please, if you guys figure this out, let me know.

Instead you posted skewed data supplied by CLC industry and their shill testers and reviewers. If you really want to discuss the CLC problem, then reply to my rational and logical reasons for thinking they should not be used instead of ignoring them and instead posting CLC industry propaganda.

My favorite post so far. We've been duped, mates. The entire industry is a sham: how did this happen? How did we not realize we were being fed fake data?!

For everyone who has done this Mod independently: you need to carefully examine your case for any "planted" temperatures probes. They've been lying to you this whole time! Your AIO, because of its "thin radiator" and "weak pump", could never achieve lower temperatures than air coolers.

Mods, please close this thread. We don't need any more "industry shills". Everybody, pack up and go home. Return those AIOs and show those OEMs that we consumers will not stand for this mockery!

Awesome build! That card is freaking sweet! Bet you get some amazing overclocks!

Hi all.

Been reading this thread with interest.

I was looking at getting the accelero hybrid iii for my GTX970, the only problem is that my card is a short version.

http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-1972-KR

As you can see from the product images it may look full length but from the back its not as long as the cooler. So I'm wondering if I'd still be able to cool the other chips with the fan that comes with that cooler?

Apologies if wrong thread.

Oh my... I don't have words for how missguided those guys are. First of all it's easy to test temperatures when an air cooler gets cool air like a radiator would, just put it in a test bench and you have your results imediatly. Air cooling has it's merrits, but to blindly reject everything else is misguided to a level that I don't even care to explain.

Oh well, at any rate members of this club can enjoy their super cool cards (both in temperatures and looks) while the nay sayers continue to blindly reject the results.

Apologies if wrong thread.

The thread is correct as far as I can see it, althoug there may be a dedicated thread to this specific product as well. As unfortunate as it is, you would not be able to fit the fan like shown in the pictures simply beacuse you would have to use the "generic" VRM heatsinks due to the fact that there is no heatsink specifically for your card. On the plus side there are alternatives.

You can use the fan and simply get one of these frames to cool your VRMs.

I would also get some thermal tape for the generic heatsinks as I'm unsure if Arctic sends any with the cooler or if they send their thermal glue instead. Thermal glue would perofmr better, but makes the changes rather permanent, so any atempt at reseating the original cooler would be futile. However if you card came with a VRM heatsink on it like the 970 SC gaming Hybrid does then you would be best to just use that instead of anything Arctic is trying to make you put on your card.

There are also several other options, but I would start by looking in to the ones I mentioned.

Seriously? I seems like a logical step to me, people have been watercooling GPUs for a long time so why not AIO... Oh well I guess people will always defend what is familiar to them, and ofcourse they won't admit that the 2-300$ extra they spent on better cooling for their cards was for nothing.
