Thanks for weighing in, Shogun. I have been reading, comparing, researching, reviewing, and repeating for days. My eyes are bloodshot. That may or may not be due to the reading, ha. I think my most favored setup right now is the Asus P8Z68-Pro/Gen3, a 2500k ofc, 8gb (4x2 - something sexy on the QVL), the Samsung 830 64GB SSD and a 2 TB Caviar Green in ISRT, 2 Samsung 830 128GB SSD's in Raid0 as my games drive, the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified ULTRA 3GB, and the Corsair H100 and Corsair 600T Case. If I go with the Antec 902V3 Case, I'll use the Antec Kuhler 920, but I'm leaning toward the former as the H100 has better cooling ability, and the Corsair case has mounts ready. I'm considering a minor case mod so I can keep the 200mm top case fan for the pull side of a push/pull config on the H100. I'm +repping those of you who comment. I really appreciate the help with working out these ideas!
Edit: My main concern is whether I will be able to do BOTH ISRT and the RAID0. The chipset appears to only support Raid on 2 of the 4 6GB SATA3 ports. If my research (read last night at about 2am) has not led me astray, I think ISRT relies on a specially managed RAID0 configuration. I haven't yet read the ISRT installation instructions for any of the boards, but that's on my to-do list, which will of course tell me if I am going to be unable to do both of these functions. My hope - and I fear it isn't going to work - is to be able to put my RAID0 SSD's on the 2 6gb ports that support raid, and then put the caviar green and 64gb SSD on the other 2 6gb ports in ISRT. If ISRT does indeed use a RAID0 setup, then I may be stuck choosing one or the other. Fingers crossed. IF anyone knows, do hollah. Edited by RedStapler - 1/22/12 at 3:41pm
