3200watt qmax 8 tec chiller (setup for 1200w) Rognin build - Page 7

I really wish I could follow my endeavors in TEC, unfortunately my wallet wouldn't allow me to progress. I have all the raw materials to construct a TEC chiller, unfortunately to my dismay the cost of CNC services have well derailed my project. I can only expand my knowledge in thermodynamics until wallet grants my request!

Awesome build, shame that Flak-Spammer and Zipdogso have stopped posting, and haven't seen many posts from Elloquin recently. Honestly speaking I play older games more than modern (Return to Castle Wolfenstein FTW!), and logically wouldn't require TEC chiller, though drinks chiller would be nice along with some benching!

Well The chillers are in and working. I do however have a problem, at the on set of the project, I thought I'd still have cold weather. I should have started this project in spring of 2011 to have it ready by Oct or Nov of 2011 so I'd have a whole winter to use them. Right now I'm sitting at 15c outside temps, so the 240 rad is way to small. Water temps coming out of the chillers is at a warm 41.5c during load. Which isn't enough to cool the TEC's. That being said, the PSU's would shut off because they'd pull too much juice. In no way Mindchill's fault, I just don't have the cooling power right now to run them properly. Rest assured, I have an up coming solution to use their full power during the summer!

Good news is with the deltas on the 240, I'm sure nothing will freeze even at -30c weather. Fans, rad (ice accumulation could have been a problem) or liquid are all resistant to -40c.

Now, I'm transferring my build from the 650D to an FT02 as I no longer need rads. So don't pay attention to the mess of wires and the fact that the side panels are off. I didn't even want to post anything I was so ashamed... =P






One of the boxes arrived with heavy case damage. Mindchill is in the process of cutting new peices to send them my way. I think the only good parts of the damaged box were the side panels, every other sheet of plexi is cracked and damaged. It feels like they took a sledge hammer to the shipping box. And this thing was double boxed with foam peanuts and bubble wrap...

I actually needed to run an extension through the window to get all the juice I needed in the room. I popped two breakers on my first try.

Hey Rognin it`s Jerry , sorry to see the damaged boxes but i`m sure you will sort it all out. Strange weather we`ve had here in Canada, I`ve been out on the MC. several times already. I`ve been prepping the 2 race bikes for the season but am now done. Will start to concentrate on the build again, will call Jack next week and finally order my dual block and controller. Best of luck my friend and tap into those big generators for your power !
