Yes, me too. However, those appeared to be glitches - VRM temps were showing 60-65 degrees 99% of the time with a glitch here and there. That leads me to believe the temps were normal, with some funky sensor readings throwing a wrench in everything..
Also, the very scientific and precise touch method didn't burn me, so that would lead me to believe temps are normal-ish.
However, I put the original heatsink on, and it's all good now, except for the GPU running hot as usual with it. Kombustor is running in the background, and has been for a while. I guess the VRMs are getting a bit toastier with the H55.
I'll get some little heatsinks for them, I guess.
As for the fan, I pretty much just slapped that in there to get it up and running. Most of the air goes around the card, and I figured that some of it could help give some incidental airflow to the RAM on the card. That's the only intake giving much air to my CPU/RAM area (front intakes mostly push to GPU area), so I figured what the heck, why not? I'm limited as far as intakes go on that case, and I can only get good airflow from 1 fan all the way up front without a bottom intake. The intake hasn't seemed to hurt CPU temps vs no intake from what I tested, so I guess it's fine. If I get issues down the road I'll rethink it for sure. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm sure the situation isn't ideal, but I start to run into too few fans, since the only intake fans are the stock Corsair ones that push 30-40 CFM at full tilt, and I've got them at about 70% of that. I'll mess around with the fan placement when I have time, and the stupid thing is working, possibly this long weekend.
Hopefully I can find some sinks on Amazon, as I have Prime and free 2 day shipping. I could probably overnight them if the cost is less than 5 bucks and I'm anxious to try them out.
I could also try to find a way to keep the shroud/fans on over the water block/pump. It appears that the airflow from one of those fans keeps them cool enough. I'll try that before buying anything I suppose.Edited by Spencer12 - 11/24/13 at 8:09pm
