I reaffixed it and it started working great! idling at ~25°C and peaking at a nice quiet 60°C. I think it was tightening it a bit too gingerly.

you can never be too carefull when tightening up a aio lol. A quick "is it tight enough" test to to physically push lightly on the top of the pump to press it into the gpu carefully. You will see temps drop even with the lightest of presses if indeed its too loose.

Hey guys I just recently did the Red Mod to my xfx 290x 8gb. And I was wondering if these are good temps or should I try to reseat it?

Seems a bit high to me. You should be in the low 60's I think if running stock volts.

Depends a lot on the cooler he used and if he did it properly or not. IE runnig pump at constant 12v and so on. Either way a quick reseat would at least eliminate that as the culprit.

Seems a bit higher than what I get for a 7970 with a 20% (1200 core/1700mem) overclock under an AIO. I get 62-65deg. Running Collatz 100%.

68 degrees at 100% on stock clocks for a Hawaii?

I would reseat it.

My AIO is an Arctic Hybrid III 140.....

The version for the R9 280X will bolt to the standard configuration 7970. (but you do have to modify the heat spreader and use a .7mm shim)

Easy simple mod for the standard 7970....

My AIO is the Corsair H55 with 2 fans in push pull. I'll post some more temps after. Btw all stock voltages on gpu, an the pump is on a header set to max.

Are you using an HG10 or is this a pure RedMod?

And I would put the pump on direct 12v from the PS.

Pure Red with lots of heat sinks and 2 small 40mm Noctua A-Series Cooling Fans

What do you mean direct 12v to the psu?
