If its anything like the H100 it wont be a upgrade over a H80/Antec920 that has been lapped with 2X good fans on it.
All they have done with them is half the thinkness then make it longer so in the end it has the same surface area as a H80/Antec920.
I guess the only advantage is you can have 4 low speed fans so it would be quieter.

Bought 2, one for my cpu and one for the 7970...
Now this will be a challenge to put in one of this

Thinking putting both in the floor in the front of the case.
I think i have the vrm cooling worked out from factory on my sapphire 7970 oc, now the problem is the dwood attachment would work in here??

Edit:
Decided to get a new case, material costs would be much more than getting a new case as much i love the lanboy is not worth it.. Will save this case for later, Jumped to a corsair 300r....

If the sinks aren't too tall, it should be just fine.
You should factor in that the "feet" of the pump will keep the bracket somewhat raised.

Is a antec 620 with cougar fans enough for a 7970 or would it be better if I went antec 920 with cougar fans. I already have and like my cougar fans. They have a air pressure of 1.73.
http://www.cougar-world.com/products/fans/vortex_hdb.html

I think I just need to wait for someone to do this to a 7970. If it did such a great job on the gtx 480 it should be able to do a 7970 just fine.

620 should be enough for any gfx card when paired with some good fans.
The difference between a 620 and 920 when using the same fans is only 2-3C on my 5ghz 8120. Which pumps out more heat then any gfx will ever output.

The only real advantages of the 920 is you can run lower fan speeds since it takes a little longer to heat soak the radiator, Have more control over it since its got a built in fan controller, Has a LED you can change the colour of and water temp read out.
Double thickness radiator doesn't really make much difference when its still limited by the small coolant pipes and using the same block and IMO isnt worth the extra money and if you really wanted to take it further then the 620 can provide a full face cooler and water loop would be better.

very pleased with this mod!

Dont worry on vram side, they dont need as much attention on the cooling side like the core itself. A good fan blowing the card will do the job just fine, there are some people around here that would say otherwise, but i choose what the real hardware experts have shown me over the years with their designs around vrm and mem chips..

If they leave those mem's naked is for a reason, some put black plates like yours or other leave them naked or put some type of little heatsinks on them to help in the high end version of the cards, but other than that they dont show too much attention to them as how they go to cool the gpu core..

You have to think about this, you remove that big heatsink out of your card with this mod right? Now, you are literally tubing out the heat of the core directly to the radiator, its the same method as a regular heatsink, theheat get transfer to the top of the fins on the heatsink and it gets cooled away with the fans.

Regularly with the regular cooling you are throwing that air on the pcb so is affecting the pcb temps too.. Now you take care of 2 things, you are taking the heat out of the core and you are not throwing hot air at your pcb no more...

Hi All,

I thought I would stick my trusty old H50 on my trusty old XFX HD4890.

It's gone from this garish looking thing:
th_XFX_HD4890_1.jpg

To having the shroud tarted up so it looks rather nice:
th_IMG00020-20100822-2146.jpg

And has now been violated one last time with a hell of a lot of cable ties, to what I'm calling the XFX HD4890 OMFG***BBQ - H2O
th_20120607_200359.jpg

I was really hesitant to actually turn the PC on with this inside, as it does look a bit like a bomb has exploded in the guts of my PC:

th_20120607_202957.jpg

But actually, it is totally silent. Thats a Chieftec 90mm blowing on the VRMs, and a Silent Eagle 2000RPM running @ 1000RPM on the rad.

Idle temps in my room of ambient of approx 25C were 30C, and after half an hour of Heaven benchmark in DX10 @ 1080P with 2xAA and 4xAF it peaked at 47C.

this is compared to an idle with the stock cooler of 48C, and a peak of 75C! :jawdrop:

I'm tempted to do it to my 6870, but it already runs cool with a custom cooler, and if I were to do it, I probably would stump for the Kuehler as the tubing on the H50 is bloody hard to work with- I have no idea where I would mount it without it being too stressing for the tubing joins.
