But, I guess some people can't read

Yes blind test but still sponsored by AMD. Maybe you're the one who can't read?

Think about it like this, if Intel sponsored this blind test would you have accepted the results? Of course you won't.

Blame it on the industry, the compilers, the biased reviews, etc all you like because there is no conspiracy going on to make AMD look bad. The problem is you drinking the green kool-aid.

And no, FX-8150 isn't the fastest consumer desktop CPU, no where near it in fact. It's the 3960X. Only time FX-8150s come close are against quad core SBs with no HT in very highly threaded situations.

What I really want is just better competition in the CPU market.

I've owned cyrix, ibm, intel, and amd processors. Ive never had a processor fail except for one. It was a Pentium 60mhz that was OC'd to 200mhz. Obviously it was destined to fail.

Competition is good it provides for innovation and pushes the market forward.

Something that's been brought up in this thread a few times is really what the problem is. The problem is software is just being SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO poorly optimized for multicore CPUs... I honestly do not know anyone that even has a single core PC anymore. I think Consoles are just really holding us back here. Not just in gaming but in all software innovation. Why? Because out of all the software in the world games make the most money. I wish the software side would start catching up again. It was nice when software was PUSHING the limits of top end hardware.

They aren't motivated, because the mainstream doesn't have high-end hardware.

I would rather get a i5 2500k for 179$ and get a better GPU.

Where are you finding that price?

Bulldozer sucks and I can say that because I've been an AMD fanboy for 11 years, many of us are only fanboys because we root for the underdog some of us are fanboys because we remember the days when AMD mopped the floor with Intel in performance some of us buy AMD out of pitty some out of stupidity and some out of hope. Bulldozer helped me realize I was supporting a lost cause especially now that they have removed all of their prior 45nm processors out of production and now every AMD CPU will be based on the Bullcrap, um I mean Bulldozer architecture, coming this fall we will see the Phenom x8s with lower clocks than the current FX chips. Maybe the updated piledriver will have a significant amount of a performance increase that might give Intel a little competition but until then I'm going Intel.

i remember AMD promised 10% increase in speed with piledriver so 25% more cores = 10% more speed? are they going to drop IPC even more? tongue.gif
post #109 of 136
I've said it once, and I'll say it again.

If AMD can make a CPU that matches the first generation i7 line, clock for clock, the true AMD fans will flock back to them without pause.

AMD really should take the fact that they cannot match with intel in performance atm. With accepting of lose to competitor it will bring motives to get better in the future. If they cannot take it and said to them self that they actually better than intel in they're own way such as this test. I believe what they make in the future won't be better at all.
