boo, no fix for the lights affecting the polling rates
post #385 of 455
I plugged in my recon and updated the firmware and the software, but no problems were fixed. LOD still causes my mouse to be unable to track on my table even at the highest setting, LEDs still mess up the polling rate as mentioned before, although I doubt a firmware will be able to change it. Tracking speed is still sub-par for an A3090, 2.31m/s at 800dpi. Maybe I just have a defective unit, but I've already sent mine for RMA once and I'm honestly not too confident that another replacement will be any different. Anyone see some real benefits from the new software? Please share if you can.

I have done the same (curiousness and possible 400 dpi step??), update from fw 1.10 and software 1.19 to the last one (1.18 and 1.22) and had ONLY problems with it. The dpi step was alltime ~2650 dpi, no matter what i set in the driver/profile, i could not change it. After this, i have downgraded the recon to 1.10 and 1.19. For those who want to do this: The FirmwareUpdater is where the software is installed. Software 1.19->1.10 firmware. Now everything works again, lod setting + speed is fine >4m/s at 800 dpi. My recon does not reach 1000hz, max is ~970 even with all lights disabled. I doubt as well that this is fixable via software.

I am a very big fan of the CM Spawn, from the moment I started using that mouse I found it to be near perfect and my aim in FPS games became outstanding. I've bought several other mice in the past couple of years to see if there are any other better mice out there, even switching to the G400 reduced my aiming ability and accuracy although I could easily see that it is a great mouse.

I'm just waiting for the Recon to arrive today, my only disappointment is that there is no 400CPI step. Getting a 1:1 ratio of movement in Windows desktop and the game is important for me and 800CPI is just too much for that even on large resolutions.

So yeah, excited. I'll tell you how it goes.

Its just arrived and i'm having a play about with it.

First off, it is heavy on the backend, I personally feel it is heavy but I am a claw/fingertip gripper so it is important that i can move a mouse easily. However, the weight in some ways adds a kind of smoothness to movements and I feel I draw better circles in paint with it. For the speed of precision and accuracy though, i have yet to test.

The mouse is higher than the spawn, again it is just another way of using as mouse, i'll need to test and get used to it.

The cord it good, i cant even feel it there, on my spawn i always felt the cord.

Side buttons are same texture as the sides fo the mouse making it difficult to know if i have my thumb on a side button.

Question:

If I change the LOD setting, how does it affect tracking? I'm sure it will have an effect.

Does anyone know the best settings for this mouse yet? The best settings for optimal tracking?

I like this mouse much more than others apart form CM Spawn.

The main problem with this mouse is the weight. If there was a way to reduce the weight this mouse might be near perfect for me.

I think there's no way to reduce weight. Looking at pictures of the insides, there's no metal block like with some Logitech inside the mouse or anything like that. I didn't want to open mine up and check for myself as I wanted to maybe send it back.
