That's just one source right there. You should check with others but it looks like the 6970 is the winner.

I found the exact opposite conclusion from the same results. Average FPS from 34 of the game samples tested show the 570 to have an average of 67.77 fps, while the 6970 only had 62.38 fps average. More importantly, OP said he mainly plays BF3- which the 570 outperformed the 6970 in all cases. However, i don't think the difference between them is that great; OP needs to decide if the 30$ price increase is worth the small gains (under 10%).

I couldn't say for him either way with that close of price. But since I use Linux I'm kind of stuck with Nvidia. In windows I'd be very torn.

Flip a coin and then buy whatever's cheapest. You won't really notice any differences between the three...

6970. Hands down. Best bang for the buck, and the VRAM will give you more time inbetween upgrades.

I agree with most. For BF3 make sure which ever you choose, you get at least 2gb. I recently upgraded to SLI 560 TIs and I can't max out because of my ram. Other than BF3, I can max every other game out that is not ram heavy.

I really appreciate the input guys, my buddy runs a 580 and gets 90fps.. he said hes at 1680x1050 or whatever.. with ultra on 3 things and others turned off.. I dont mind toning down the graphics but for competitive game play.. 70fps+ is a must.

lots of thinking to do this week lol.

On Ultra, 1080p: (From what I personally see at LAN parties)
CFX 6970's were -kind of- struggling, to keep a clean constant 60+ fps.
GTX 580 is similar in performance, somewhat struggles at times and dips below 60fps.
7970 should be similar to CFX 6970's.

It was very depressing, and made me choose to wait on GPU even longer until a good single card solution or a significantly cheaper SLI\CFX setup is released.
I really don't understand how BF3 can make hardware struggle so hard.

Um Battlefield was designed on an ATI build so for best graphics results and support I'd say go with 6950+ OR something my brother did was instead of spending $300+ dollars on 1 really nice card. get 2 lower end cards for 120-135 each and crossfire them.

ide rather have 1 new gen card then two cheap ass ones, then in a 6 months get another one of the new gens.. old technology wont work well with BF3.
