What do you think of my New Build? - Page 2

That airflow setup actually works very well, I can say from experience that my 4.3GHz E8400 runs coolest blowing upward toward the top exhaust, and picks up air through the side door vent.

You're looking good, but you can get an extension for that cable you have runing wierdly up the back of the case and run it behind....

The Cooling system does work pretty well actually!!

I've heard stuff about Fans not performing well if mounted horizontally - but this is only the case with Hydraulic Sleeve Bearings....

I was thinking about running the Cpu Power Cable behind the motherboard but it just wouldn't work...

My Stand off's are quite small, therefore keeping the motherboard quite close to the side panel, I would need taller stand off's to make my motherboard sit further away if I was to route cables behind it.

But - If the motherboard was further away from the side, then it wouldn't line up with the back I/O Panel....

I sure would like to find less than 18" SATA cables,I guess I have not looked hard enough. An 18" cable certainly is not required when dealing with the Antec 300, it just leaves a bunch of cable you must do something with.

I'm pretty sure you would need something shorter than 18 inches to get from the motherboard to the hard drive....

Maybe 3 or 4 inches!!

the only real question i have is why? I can totally understand if it's simply a aesthetic move, however that's really all you got out of that new box.

the 302 wont really perform any better then the Asgard for your current system.

you don't really have much in your system that is producing heat.

i'd be willing to bet that both system perform about the same as far as temp's are concerned, and the 302 will actually be just abit louder then your old chassis.

Actaully, I'll have you know that The Antec 300 is MUCH better than the ****ty Asgard!!

The Asgard was made out of super-thin Alluminium and the 300 is pure steel!! Much better for absorbing vibrations.

Also, the Asgard only had a few fan holes, the 300 has loads - And a 140mm too!!!

So, the Antec 300 is better than the Asgard is Every single way possible!!

P.S. It's not the 302 by the way.....

how are the temps tho?biggrin.gif considering your system barely produce heat, i'm willing to bet that both system end up having about the same temps:)

i agree the 300 is a better case, but from the point of view of performance gained, it's negligible for the $ spent. the 300 will make a better platform to build on if you decide to add a beastly GPU tho:) but then you'll need a better PSU before that:)
Thread Starter
Well, Talking about Temps - When I had my Asgard, I was getting 24 degrees idle, 36 most of the time, and over 50 at full load.

Now, With my 300 and some extra fans - I am getting 19 idle, 30 most of the time and 42 at full load..... IMPROVEMENT!!!!

This is all with the same Hyper 212+......
