i need help with my E8500...could you please help me...the problem is that Im trying to set it at 4 Ghz and it wont work...
my rig is:intel core Duo E8500 3.16 gHz 775
asus P5Q delux s. 775
ram DDR2 800 Mhz 4x2 Gb
win. 7 64bit

i trying to set it at 4000 MHz and Im doing something wrong because a get an error in prime95 after 25 min.So i'll be very happy if you could help me

I tried the settings:

Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
CPU Ratio Setting : 9.5
FSB Frequency : 421
PCIE Frequency: 100
FSB Strap to North Bridge : 333
DRAM Frequency: Auto)
DRAM Timing Control: Auto

DRAM Static Read Control: Auto
Dram Read Training : Auto
MEM OC Charger : Auto
Ai Clock Twister : Auto
Ai Transaction Booster : Auto

CPU Voltage : 1.325V
CPU GTL Reference: Auto
CPU PLL Voltage : 1.50
FSB Termination Voltage: 1.10
DRAM Voltage : 2.1
NB Voltage : Auto
PCIE Sata Voltage: Auto

Load Line Calabration : Disabled
CPU Sread Spectrum : Disabled
PCIE Spread Spectrum : Disabled
CPU Clock Skew: 200

sorry for my bad english...wink.gifwink.gif
and one more thing im doing this only to improve my performance in Battlefield 3 (so if you have some advice on that, feel free to say)

Your memory is failing.

The lowest multiple you can set on intel 775 is 1:1, which means you're at DDR2 842 when your FSB is at 421.

You can spend alot of time trying to overclock your memory, or just pick up some DDR2 1066.

Also, here is the P5Q thread:

Try to take your multi down to x8.5 to see if you still get errors. If you do, it's probably your mem failing.

If so, try to use manual memory timings. Try out 6-6-6-18. It may be you have to set Performance Level to 11 instead of 10 when CAS 6, in order to boot.

If this does not do it, you could try and up all the secondary memory timings by one notch.

If none of this works, try with only 2x2GB instead of 4x2GB.

Maybe try bumping the FSB Termination up to 1.15V or even 1.2V? If I remember those CPUs right, at stock that voltage was 1.15V, and if so, you're trying to run almost a 1GHz overclock with that undervolted. I was able to get it to run at 4GHz with 1.15V stock on mine, but each varies with each CPU, especially if that's a C0 stepping, in which case that Vcore could too little as well.

800MHz RAM giving out at 842MHz seems rare to me for any brand name non-Value type stuff, but it could very well be that too.

You might want to set your CPU clock Skew to Auto as well just to see. Also try loosening the FSB Strap to 400MHz?

Quite a few things you can try if the above doesn't rule it out as the memory.
